Breaking news: America has crappy taste in beer. Okay, so that’s not necessarily an insight, but it’s true. Liquor-centric website VinePair recently released an info graphic illustrating America’s very favorite beers. #1? Bud Light. Because Americans are bland and tasteless. Sorry! We mean because Bud Light is bland and tasteless.
Now, it’s not that we expected some small-batch craft ale to top the beer sales charts (that would be kind of impossible, now that we think about it), but the whole top 20 is kind of a travesty, culminating in the Bud Light Lime Straw-ber-ita, which is entirely too many syllables for the name of a drink. On the plus side, that last one does have a high alcohol percentage, at 8%, so it’s got that going for it.
In other news not involving small craft breweries, Coors has decided to get in on the gluten-free beer market, which is reasonably cool if you’re gluten intolerant and don’t like cider or whatever. The all-new Coors Peak is a brown rice beer, and for now is only available in 6- and 12-packs in most of the country, so it’ll be a long long long long while before Coors Peak overtakes Bud Light as the best selling beer.

Are you looking forward to having widely available gluten-free beer? Do you drink any of the beers in the Top 20? If you had your way, what would be the best-selling beer in America? Have you heard other beer news you’d like to see Noah cover in future editions of the Cold Beer Report?
