We here at Tasted are generally in favor of good beer. We appreciate good potato chips. And while the combination of Guinness and chips (or crisps!) isn’t something we object to… WHY do we need tot make Guinness-FLAVORED chips? WHY?!?!?

Yes, food scientist over at Burt’s, a gourmet chip company, took it upon themselves to solve the completely non-existent problem that chips get soggy when you dip them in beer. Because people don’t dip chips in beer. Now, as engineered food flavors go, this one sounds reasonably un-objectionable. But, Guinness chips are currently only available in in the UK. So we can’t tell you that for sure.

Have you tried these chips from the good (well, they’re all right) folks at Burt’s? Do you think beer is a good flavor for anything other than, well, beer? Have you ever dipped your chips in stout? What’s next in flavoring food like beverages? Or should we just movie on to beverages flavored like beer? Potato chip flavored beer, anyone?
