Adding new menu items is pretty much a championship sport for fast food places (if corporations played sports. Whatever). Wendy’s has now entered the fast-food brisket game, and they think brisket sandwiches are for schmucks. No, they’ve got a Brisket BURGER.
Yup, in what we can only see as an effort to catch up to and surpass the lone competitor in the brisket field, Arby’s Wendy’s has introduced the Brisket Cheeseburger at select locations in Florida. It’s got a burger patty, as well as beef brisket, plus cheddar cheese, crispy onion strings, and something they’re claiming is a cornbread bun. So, right off the bat, they’ve got 2 kinds of beef on one burger. Which is an… advantage? Or something?
Carl’s Jr/Hardee’s also doesn’t want to get left behind in the brisket race, which is why they’ve now got brisket-topped nachos at any location that contains a Green Burrito or a Red Burrito for a limited time. They basically sound like fast-food nachos, but with beef brisket on top. And we expect they’re every bit as good as that sounds.
Have you had a chance to try out Wendy’s Beef Brisket Cheeseburger? Or the brisket nachos at Carl’s Jr? What did you think? Did the Beef Brisket burger or brisket nachos live up to your very highest fast food expectations? Have you heard of other fast food arms race abominations that you think Noah would “appreciate”? What other classic homemade foods would you like to see fast food chains spoil in the next couple of years?
