Museum Apologizes After Lego Figure Found Pointing Gun At Model Police Station

A Lego gunman pointing his weapon at a model police station is promptly removed after a firefighter notices it at the Columbus Museum of Art’s “Think Outside the Box” Lego exhibit.
Art may have imitated life a little too closely at one Ohio museum.
This is what local firefighter Bob Dickson and his daughters encountered when they visited the Columbus Museum of Art on December 27.
While viewing the “Think Outside the Brick” model of downtown Columbus, they noticed a Lego figure on the street, pointing a gun at the police station’s doors.
This was particularly bothersome to Dickson given the recent shooting of two New York City police officers.
Despite some doubts, he went home and emailed the museum and the installation’s designer, the Central Ohio Lego Train Club.
Both responded that this was not part of the design and immediately removed the offending piece.
The museum also issued a public apology.
Though no one is certain how the gun-toting figure landed on the cityscape, the museum spokeswoman explained that it could have come from a nearby area where visitors can make their own Lego sculptures.
