Latin American School of Medicine, a Cuban contribution to the world

The Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) was created 15 years ago in Havana, Cuba, at the initiative of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro. Since its founding, it has represented an important effort by Cuba to further Latin American and Caribbean integration. Currently, more than 6,000 young people from 123 countries study at the ELAM and during the past 15 years, it has trained more than 24,000 doctors. teleSUR
