Argentina marks 9th anniversary of FTAA defeat

Today marked the 9th anniversary of the historic Summit of the Americas in Mar del Plata. On November 6, 2005, presidents Hugo Chavez (Venezuela), Lula da Silva (Brazil), Tabare Vasquez (Uruguay), Nestor Kirchner (Argentina), and Evo Morales (Bolivia) rejected and defeated the Washington-sponsored Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA), which many say ended the era of neo-liberalism in the region. The Train of Dignity reenacted the historical train trip made by the Latin American presidents on that date. Leonel Poblete reports from Buenos Aires. teleSUR
