Pillow fights are a blast, even if only a few people are involved.

Imagine the fun that was recently had on campus at the University of California-Irvine, as approximately 42 hundred students gathered to take part in a massive pillow battle.

The crowd was comprised mostly of incoming transfers and freshmen. They all gathered on campus hoping to shatter a Guinness World Record for the largest pillow fight and they reportedly did just that, although it has not yet been confirmed by Guinness officials.

The light hearted challenge at UC Irvine exceeded the previous record by roughly 400.

In order to adhere to rules set by Guinness World Records, the huge pillow fight had to last for a duration of one full minute. The student organizer behind the event pointed out the record breaking accomplishment coincides with the university’s 50th anniversary.

He remarked “Just to set it off with another world record is really cool. It sets it up for future years to keep breaking world records like this.”

UC Irvine currently holds the record for both the world's largest water pistol fight and largest dodgeball game.
