In this episode, master mixologist Andy Seymour visits the molecular gastronomy restaurant WD-50 in lower Manhattan, which happens to be conveniently close to Katz's Deli, which serves one of the best pastrami sandwiches in the city. Andy picks one up to bring over to the bar to compare it with fellow liquid pimp Kevin Denton's Pastrami & Rye Manhattan Cocktail recipe. You read that correctly, he infuses rye whiskey with pastrami spices (and an erotic touch), smokes the vermouth, and creates a beef stock bitters. This recipe took him months to perfect, but is worthy of being called one of the most innovative and out-of-the-box cocktail recipes we've ever run into. One of the wildest concoctions to date on the show, this is one crazy mashup of the savory and masticate-able with the alcoholic and imbibe-able. Check it out!
What did you think of this cocktail? Would you give this a shot if you were out at the bars? Would you make this yourself at home and bring it out for parties? If you did, did you like it?
