A deputy sheriff patrol vehicle camera recently captured a tornado near Hospers, Iowa. The storm ripped through Sioux County on the evening of Mother’s Day.

Although the tornado appeared to be huge going by the footage, the National Weather Service declared it as an EF-1 tornado, which is the second lowest rating on the scale.

The aftermath of it, however, was brutal. Damages were reported throughout the county.

Numerous structures and trees were affected. A local dairy farm encountered extensive damage, about 3 million dollars worth and a semi truck that have been traveling on the highway overturned as a result of the storm. Fortunately no injures were reported.

The wind speed of the tornado was estimated to be between 86 and 110 miles per hour. It only lasted a little over 10 minutes, reportedly touching down at 8:35 p.m and ending at 8:46 p.m.

Crews were left cleaning up the mess on the night of and day following the twister. Community members rallied together to help the dairy farm owners, who had encountered the most personal damage, sift through the wreckage.
