Eastern Ukraine: the escalation

Six weeks after Russia took over Crimea, masked gunmen have taken over the police station in the eastern Ukranian city of Slaviansk, ignoring Kiev's ultimatum. With pro-Russian separatists in control of public buildings elsewhere, there's even a new hotspot with at least 100 of them attacking the police headquarters in the city of Horlivka. After Crimea, is Moscow really making a move on eastern Ukraine? What should the West do?
