A prank recently went horribly wrong in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Cops were forced to respond to a school due to a report of shots fired.
Some April Fool’s jokes go too far. A prank recently went horribly wrong in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Cops were forced to respond to a school due to a report of shots fired.
It all started when an employee at Virginia College, 54-year-old Angela Timmons allegedly sent a text to her daughter who lives out of state. In the message, Timmons claimed to have heard gunshots inside the college. She also commented that she was hiding in a filing cabinet for her own safety.
When the daughter never heard a response back from her mother, she dialed 911 and informed them of what she thought was going on. Teams of officers swarmed the school and barged into the building, fully prepared to handle an armed suspect.
It didn’t take them long to realize it was all a joke. Timmons was soon arrested and charged with ‘breech of peace, disturbing school and unlawful use of the telephone'.
In light of the incident, Timmons has apologized to her daughter, the college and to the presiding judge in court.
There is no word yet on the fate of Timmons’ employment.
