Nothing is more frustrating than losing important mail without an explanation. A mail carrier in Long Island is now in hot water after he allegedly threw out over a thousand packages and letters.

The reasoning behind the mail tossing stunt was simply because the postal service staffer reportedly didn’t feel like delivering them. 24-year-old Patrick Paskett is the carrier accused of the act.

The court complaint says that federal authorities were tipped off Paskett wasn't quite carrying out his duties after residents in his route reported not receiving their mail, and an agent subsequently witnessed him toss mail pieces in the garbage.

When Paskett was confronted by agents, he reportedly confessed to discarding mail more than a dozen times over the course of four months and admitted to knowing that what he did is wrong.

Federal authorities recovered about 1,000 pieces of the tossed mail. Approximately 150 of the retrieved items were posted first class.

Paskett is facing a charge of mail destruction. He claimed to have resigned from his job, but according to a USPS spokesperson, Paskett is still employed. It was pointed out that he is no longer permitted to deliver mail pending the outcome of the investigation.
