An 18-month-old boy, known as Baby Charli, is not only learning to walk, he’s learning to do so using prosthetics.

The child, who hails from Haiti, was born without fully developed arms and legs.

He was brought to the US by the charitable organization Angel Missions Haiti.

The non-profit group joined forces with Virginia Prosthetics in Roanoke and together they’ve been getting Charli ready to take his first steps.

Said a specialist from the company, “Most children when they’re figuring out how to put weight on their legs, it’s part of the developmental process. Eventually just like most kids he’s going to learn to fall before he learns to walk. We had to start somewhere so we had to get him the opportunity.”

They first outfitted Charli with prosthetic arms so he could begin to grab things and pull himself up.

A couple of weeks ago they introduced the legs and shortly after the boy began to move around on them.

Soon, Charli will be headed back to Haiti for a visit so he can show his mom how great he’s doing.
