Given that canines seem to be in tuned with human emotions, the pets are a perfect form of therapy. Xander is the name of a pug with one goal in life – to help those who are suffering both physically and mentally.

Rodney & Marcie Beedy are the owners of the pooch. They brought him from The Klamath Animal Shelter in Oregon. But there is one noticeable difference with Xander that sets him apart from other dogs. He had his eyes removed as a pup.

He also has breathing problems resulting from an accident. Once the Beedys heard of Xanders story, they saw the potential to turn him into a therapy dog.

The young pooch soon passed his A.K.C. Canine Good Citizen Test. He is now a certified Pet Partner's Therapy Dog. The couple takes Xander to nursing homes, daycares, safe houses for abused kids and animal shelters.

From the old to the young to other canine friends, Xander is there to comfort them all. Rodney Beedy detailed Xanders’ dedication to his job stating “A lot of times he’ll hear a child crying at an event and he’s bolted several times, at least 500 feet over to this child to comfort them.”
