The unthinkable has happened. For the first time ever on this side of the century, a notable actor has made his displeasure public about the ongoing issue related to signing a contract for the music rights. A few weeks back it was Sonu Nigam who had stood up for the cause when he refused to sign the contract for Heartless. Now Abhay Deol, despite pretty much aware of the fact that his outcry would only further jeopardize the music prospects of his debut production One by Two, has taken to social networking site and shared his grievance loud and clear.

He posted - 'GET READY FOR A BATTLE- My friends, I just did the unthinkable. I took on the giant record label of the music industry. Many of you on FB and those I meet on the road have been asking me when the music of my film will release. It is the 14th of January, my film is out on the 31st of this month and yet there are no albums available in the market. Well the entire music fraternity is up in arms against the record labels because they expect musicians to sign a contract with a clause that is against the law."

Abhay further detailed the reason behind his outcry. "Producers like myself are expected to make sure that they sign. Which means if anyone is arrested for breaking the law it will be the producer! ...As a result, I have no album in the market. In fact now, I wouldn't be surprised if the music company pulls out my promos from the TV channels. I don't have radio play anyway."

He rued the fact that no producer or studio had made their displeasure on the prevailing issue so far. Abhay did claim though that he had support from the entire music fraternity, while also making special mention of Ram Sampat, Sona Mohapatra, Amit Trivedi, Vishal and Shekhar, Javed Akhtar along with Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy.

Moments after he posted the details, support started pouring in. Sonu Nigam was the early bird and he said - 'Finally someone has decided to understand and support truth. Here's where education and genuineness comes handy. Kudos Abhay Deol.' Singer Mahalaxmi Iyer also expressed respect for Abhay and added - 'As a young producer, you have shown guts and gumption to take them on. The music fraternity will be eternally grateful!!"

Meanwhile Abhay went on to add - 'Now I am just waiting to see which producers, actors and studios will come forth to highlight this issue. I hope my film will not suffer as a result. I believe in the power of the individual." This is something that saw backing from Vishal Dadlani as well who said - 'Well done, Abhay. It only takes a few courageous people, to stand together and change systems forever!'
