Reverse Aging Experiment Gets Promising Results

Scientists from the US and Australia have successfully reversed the aging process in mice and say the same may be possible in people.

We’re not talking about erasing a couple years’ worth of fine lines and wrinkles.

They actually turned the aging clock backwards, making muscles more toned, reduced inflammation, and restored energy levels in the test mice.

In relative human years, the mice’s results are akin to making a 60-year-old person feel 20 again.

Their treatment works by triggering communication between our body’s two sets of chromosomes.

Of course we are aware of our genome, but there’s also the often overlooked maternal mitochondrial DNA.

Over time, the two stop relaying and picking up information from one another.

Once the scientists successfully figured out how to get the two sets of chromosomes back in the loop with one another by injecting a chemical compound called NAD, the mice returned to being their younger selves.

Now that they’ve achieved the desired results on test animals, the scientists say they’re looking forward to trying it out on humans.

That doesn’t mean they’re expecting to start marketing the treatment to the public any time soon. Even if they could, it’s estimated that a single daily dose would run about 50 thousand dollars.
