Some have expressed concerns that it takes too long. Others worry that it could potentially inhibit the driver’s ability to brake or steer.
E2V has said their method doesn’t pose any greater threat than the alternatives, including but not limited to lethal force.
Tire spikes were specifically mentioned as they can be especially dangerous when used to stop motorcycles.
Another situation that could benefit from the technology is stopping vehicles that are believed to be filled with explosives.
Naturally, older cars that don’t have electrical systems are impervious to the device.
