Recently a plane cleaning and maintenance crew stumbled upon gold bars inside an aircraft toilet. In total 280 bars were found with a value of $1.9 million.

The plane belonged to the airline, Flydubai. The flight flew from Dubai to Dhaka. It was after the landing that the gold bars were discovered.

The crew did the right thing and contacted police. Law enforcement authorities seized the bars, which reportedly had a combined weight of 70 pounds.

The person responsible for flushing the gold remains unknown. However customs workers claimed to have known the gold bars were onboard. They believe the suspect who had carried the bars on the plane somehow got tipped off that the police had caught on and left the gold in the toilet before quickly deboarding the aircraft.

Dhaka’s airport has seen quite a few gold smuggling busts lately. Over the course of eight months, authorities have taken in over 650 pounds of gold and other precious metals.
