Kristopher Wenberg, age 25, was struck by a train when he was walking along some tracks in Kansas.

Somehow, he managed to walk away from the accident.

After getting up and leaving the scene he used his cell phone to call someone for a ride to the hospital.

The train’s conductor reported that he saw the man on the tracks and sounded the horn, but there was no response or attempt to get out of harm’s way.

Applying the train’s emergency brakes didn’t avert the accident either as there wasn’t time to come to a stop.

The conductor reported watching the man exit onto a nearby street.

Wenberg showed up at a local hospital a bit later in an unknown private vehicle.

Upon hearing about the accident, area officials began to look for him at several area health facilities.

Wenberg told deputies that he’d been wearing headphones and hadn’t heard the train or its warnings.

In the hospital it was discovered he had sustained injured his legs and shoulder.

Wenberg may be cited for criminal trespass as a result walking on the tracks.
