After graduation I ended up having to move back into my parents home and getting my old bar job back and working long hours to try and pay off my student overdraft.

Therefore I decided to take a Trinity course with my university, which is a teaching course to teach a foreign language abroad.

A family member of mine had started teaching in Korea a couple of years before. I decided to do my teaching course and vowed never to go back to England.

Upon arriving in Vietnam I stepped out of the airport and within ten minutes had my iPhone stollen.

Within the first two weeks my friend had broken her ankle. we had to spend six hours in a Vietnamese hospital where the man on the bed next to her was being resuscitated, there were people lying all over the floors, the toilets were full of cockroaches and its possibly one of the most harrowing experiences i’ve ever had.

Before that I was ‘oh yes, I’m going to Vietnam to teach, I’ll be fine and as soon as I stepped on the airplane that’s when the shock hit me, that I was actually going and leaving everyone.

The only regrets I have looking back are leaving family members. My friends are getting married which hopefully I’m going to go back for, but obviously the airfares are going to cost an arm and a leg.

the best thing about teaching is the satisfaction of seeing your learners, learn the points your wanting them to learn, the satisfaction that they’ve learnt that from you and rapport with the students as well.

Its such a complete different lifestyle. On my days off I sit around the pool. After that I’ll go and get a manicure and pedicure, a massage if I fancy it and I won’t spend more than £10 a day.
