In a bizarre and sad report, a kitten born with a defect passed away shortly after coming into the world. The animal was born on August 30th in Western China and only had one eye which was centered in the middle of its face. The kitty was not only lacking one eye but also a nose.

Described as a Persian mix-breed, it measured a little under 4 inches long. The owner took notice of the kitten’s odd appearance about an hour after the birth and rushed it to a veterinary clinic.

Sadly the cat didn’t survive. According to a veterinarian, the animal most likely suffocated because it couldn't breathe without a nasal cavity. It was also speculated that the kitten’s bizarre appearance was caused by a rare genetic disorder.

Cats can have deformities much like any other animal or even humans.

One example is facial duplication or two headed cats. While that phenomenon is still a mystery, it’s believed it is a form of conjoined twins where a fertilized egg did not entirely spilt in half.

The most traumatic part about deformities is that the animals can often have a difficult life even if they manage to survive.
