When ocean is chummed, first of all poison comes out. Fearing this, all flees away. Along with God Vishnu, God Brahma, all gods visit God Shiv to make remedy for this poison. He drinks entire poison and stops it in His neck thus becomes Neel-Kant. When Chumming is restarted, Goddess Laxmi comes from ocean. War breaks between gods and demons to achieve Her. God Brahma declares start of a new custom called swayamvar.
