FR - La cité Troglodytique de Sefar ou Safar avec ces 15 000 dessins et peinture rupestres datant du Néolithique l'un des plus grands et anciens « musées rupestres à ciel ouvert » du monde, avec les gravures rupestres de l'Oued Djerat datant d'environ 9 à 10 000 ans Av. JC.
Au néolithique, quand le Sahara n’était pas encore un désert, des hommes ont peint et gravé les parois rocheuses du Tassili n’Ajjer. Animaux, scènes de chasse ou cérémonies énigmatiques, ces chefs-d’œuvre n’ont pas livré tous leurs secrets.
Sur le site de Sefar, se dresse une figure étrange, haute de 1,55 m et formant le centre d’une vaste scène qui s’étend sur 20 m2. Baptisé « grand dieu » ou « l'extraterrestre » par certain , ce géant est l’une des plus célèbres peintures rupestres du Tassili. La forme de la tête et les excroissances sur les bras restent inexpliquées. L’explorateur français Henri Lhote l’avait d’abord nommé « l’abominable homme des sables ».
