Traveling from Kuala Lumpur by train is probably the cheapest, safest way to get there. It is easy and can cost as little as RM33 or about USD $10 to as much as RM95-135 (USD$30 - $43) for 1st class deluxe sleeper. Yes, the RM95-135 sounds high, but consider that you don't have to pay for an extra night of hotel in Singapore and that you are efficiently moving at night, it is well worth it.
