Romney birth certificate remark rekindles Obama controversy

In Michigan, Republican Mitt Romney took a swipe at the president --- reviving the controversy surrounding Obama's birth certificate.

SOUNDBITE: Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney saying:

"I love being home in this place that Anne and I were raised. Where both of us were born. Anne was born in Henry Ford hospital, I was born in Harper hospital. No one has ever asked to see my birth certificate, they know that this is the place we were born and raised."

Obama, the son of an American mother and a Kenyan father, has released multiple copies of his birth certificate showing he was born in Hawaii. This, however, has done little to stop some conservatives speculation about his eligibility.

Romney's comments came just days before the Republican National Convention in Florida.
