Doctors Taking a Stand Against Sitting

If you are sitting down while reading this, you may want to stand up. There is mounting medical evidence that sitting too long is taking a toll on your health, and doctors across the country are taking a stand. A century ago, Americans stood 90% of the day, but in 2012 we stand less than 35% of the time. While it may seem harmless, the simple act of sitting too long not only increases our risk of heart disease, it could help explain a jump in obesity rates and lower back injuries. One doctor at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center says we could burn 50% more calories a day just by make a few simple changes to our daily routines.
