Oxford University Invites Bunny Ranch Owner for Prostitution Debate - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

Should prostitution be legalized? It already is in parts of Nevada, where 8 counties have active brothels. One of the 30 or so legal brothels in Nevada is Moonlite Bunny Ranch owned by 65 year old Dennis Hof. Hof and one of the many prostitutes employed at the Bunny Ranch have been invited to participate in a discussion regarding the legal status of prostitution at Britain’s prestigious Oxford University alongside activists and scholars representing both sides of this extremely controversial issue.

New York Times notes that in the United States, around 500 women are employed as independent contractors by the legal brothels in Nevada. The vast majority of women report feeling safe and secure under the laws of their state. They are employees of the brothel acting under written contract, rather than being forced into prostitution.

The current laws in most countries make sex for money illegal, but there are many countries in the world where prostitution is legal and there are also many gray areas pertaining to enforcement and legal loopholes surrounding this controversial profession.
