PRESENTED BY LAYLA ANNA-LEE

Since forming in January 2008, Draw me Stories have been hailed for their raw, dark and quirky brand of indie music. The story began when Carl Hodgetts and Mat Albasser met whilst tirelessly grafting through their PhDs at Cardiff University. After Mat discovered Carls musical project, Fingolfin, they spent an evening with their closest allies; guitar and bass. Their shared enthusiasm for writing and performance was almost tangible. Just days later, Carl and Mat came to learn that Sam Souter, a then friend-of-a-friend, was looking to resurrect his art of percussion. On a cold December evening, over a glass of Slovakian liquor, it was decided; a band was born.

Since forming that January, their energy on and off the stage has secured acclaimed plugged and unplugged shows across the UK. Along the way they supported some great acts, notably Born Ruffians. Their music, considered both unusual and traditional, both grand and humble, has attracted comparisons to The Doors, Late of the Pier, Queens of the Stone Age and Jeff Buckley. Their versatility shines through their unplugged performances which showcase a different, sometimes melancholic take on their own music. After packing out open mics and cosy drinking holes, Draw me Stories decided to record, produce and release their debut album, entitled The Unplugged Sessions.

They were a featured artist for Bethan Elfyns Introducing show on BBC Radio 1 with Diamonds Into Dirt and were also voted by the public to feature on xfm with the song Shake; prior to any public performance. Regular airplay on Nation Radio and other UK stations has ensured that DMS are three friends worth listening to.
