Chinese NBA star Yao Ming retires

Yao led the Shanghai Sharks to a CBA championship, before Houston made him the No. 1 NBA draft pick in 2002. Many questioned Houston's decision. Charles Barkley said if Yao scored more than 19 points in a game, he would kiss a fellow basketball analyst's ass. Yao proved them wrong. Over his career, he averaged 19 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. He made the NBA popular in China. Yao retired today, at age 30, as one of China's richest men. His business empire includes his former team, the Shanghai Sharks.
