It's an annual spectacle—the Taipei 101 fireworks bringing in the New Year. When the 101 story building was constructed in 2004, it was the tallest building in the world. Since then, every year Taipei 101 has held a premier New Year's fireworks display.

The fireworks are now being installed on the building. This year the organizers are using new techniques to make the fireworks appear more three dimensional than ever before.

"Within 202 seconds, we will set off 30-thousand individual fireworks. This year we have made a breakthrough. You will see, cube shapes appearing on the walls, and coordinated 3D fireworks. This should create even more abundant excitement."

Like last year, this year's display will use 30-thousand individual fireworks. It will be one and a half minutes shorter, but more intense. Larger external frames on the building will also allow fire works to be set off at a broader range of angles, so they will appear more three dimensional.

[Liu Jiahao, Taipei 101 Spokesperson]: (Male, Chinese, Second in footage)
"The frames are tall, they are higher than the walls of our external platforms, so they can fully put to use the horizontal angle. They can shoot up and of course they can even shoot fireworks downwards. So all the fireworks can be set off at very broad angles."

Along with Sydney, Tokyo and Hong Kong, Taipei will be one of the first fireworks displays to welcome in the New Year, 2012.
