Martin Sheen finds direction in Emilio Estevez

You could call it a family affair.
Two members of one of Hollywood's most famous acting families have teamed together to make the new film "The Way."
The movie makes it the third time father-son duo Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez have worked together.
However, Estevez, who directed the movie, said their history didn't make it any easier.
SOUNDBITE: Emilio Estevez, actor and director, saying (English):
"I think this was the most challenging because it was a real collaboration from the beginning. He had some great ideas for the screenplay while I was developing it, while I was writing it. Then he had some not so great ideas. So the good ones are in the movie and some of the other ones are on the cutting room floor."
The project started in 2003 after Martin Sheen took a trip to Camino De Santiago, a series of trails that begin in France and end in Spain.
Eight-years later a touching story about a father's relationship with his deceased son was born.
The bulk of the film centers on Sheen's character, Tom, who ends up walking the trail to honor his son, who died shortly after he began his journey.
SOUNDBITE: Martin Sheen, actor, saying (English):
"It's the best role I've been handed in 35-years and it's the best film I've been involved in in 30-years and the fact that he wrote it for me says it all. And the only anxiety I had is that I wouldn't come up to his expectations."
During filming the duo walked roughly half of the 500-mile trek, but they both look forward to completing the entire trip.
SOUNDBITE: Emilio Estevez, actor and director, saying (English):
"It's a dream, to be able to unplug and take a backpack, get away from the phones."

"Cameras."

"Yea, all of it, and just go and do it and have a six-week mediation. It might take you a little longer, maybe eight - I'll wait for you."
SOUNDBITE: Martin Sheen, actor, saying (English):
"I'm sure that you will."
"The Way" will have a limited release on October 7 and a wider release on October 21.
