00:02 If you were coming of age in the 1980s,
00:04 the Brat Pack was near the center
00:06 of your cultural awareness.
00:08 But for those of us experiencing it from the inside,
00:11 the Brat Pack was something very different.
00:13 [cheering]
00:16 On June 10, 1985, New York Magazine
00:19 published Hollywood's Brat Pack.
00:21 I just remember seeing that cover and thinking, oh, [bleep]..
00:27 From then on, my career and the career of everyone
00:30 who was involved was branded to the Brat Pack.
00:34 I'm really sorry that article had to come out.
00:36 I've never talked to anybody about what that was like.
00:40 So I thought it might be interesting to try and contact
00:43 everyone who was in the Brat Pack.
00:44 Hey, Emilio Estevez.
00:46 This is Andrew McCarthy calling you.
00:47 Hey, Ali.
00:48 Hey, Demi.
00:49 Hey, Molly.
00:50 Let's call Rob.
00:51 Hello?
00:52 Judd?
00:53 [music playing]
00:55 Me?
00:55 You around?
00:56 [laughter]
00:58 You were not interested in talking
00:59 about the Brat Pack for years.
01:01 I turned everything down.
01:02 How come you're talking to me?
01:03 Because you called me.
01:04 It was time that we cleared the air on a couple of things.
01:08 I love your stuff, Bob.
01:09 Hey, thank you.
01:10 I hated the Brat Pack for decades.
01:11 What a [bleep] disaster.
01:14 If you could have the Brat Pack name not exist, would you?
01:19 Hm.
01:21 It really irritated me.
01:23 They said, what's more important to you,
01:24 the movie or your life?
01:26 And I said, the movie!
01:27 Andrew?
01:28 [laughter]
01:29 [music playing]
01:31 (SINGING) Hey, hey, hey, hey.
01:33 Have you talked to the others?
01:35 The others, like, again, it feels like a cult or something.
01:37 Yeah.
01:38 (SINGING) Won't you come see us?
01:40 Why did we take it as an offense?
01:42 As opposed to, like--
01:43 Well, could you call the brat?
01:44 Because we were young.
01:45 We were afraid we were brats.
01:47 Are you in the Brat Pack?
01:48 I'm Brat Pack of Jason.
01:49 That's what I would say.
01:50 I am not in the Brat Pack.
01:53 (SINGING) Don't you--
01:55 Did I crush on you back in the day?
01:56 You did not, Andrew.
01:57 No, you did not.
01:59 Being in the Brat Pack not only changed all of our lives,
02:01 it changed what entertainment is.
02:03 I mean, I'm not going to say we were the Beatles or anything.
02:04 Well, we didn't kill Shea Stadium.
02:06 There were moments.
02:06 We could have.
02:08 1985, I think we could have.
02:11 (SINGING) Hey, hey, hey, hey.
02:15 So what are you filming?
02:17 We're just doing this documentary.
02:18 What's it about?
02:19 Ancient history.
02:21 (SINGING) Will you come my way?
