Using Dishwasher Efficiently

Using Dishwasher Efficiently - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. When properly loading a dishwasher, plastic items always go on the top shelf, while metal items and glass items can go on the bottom shelf. Larger items should be placed in the dishwasher, on the outer skirts of the dishwasher, and All silverware should go in the silverware containers. Make sure that you rinse everything before you put it in the dishwasher as your dishwasher works more efficiently if it does not have to work as hard.Unfortunately, this means you work a little bit with a bigger payoff. If you are having a big party, the best thing to do is clean as many dishes as you can from the stuff that you used to make tonight's meal. That way your dishwasher is clean and empty and ready for all the dishes from your guests- from plates, to glasses, wine glasses, to silverware. And it is much easier the end of the night to clean up. Also, if you know you are going to have to do several loads or have a lot of dishes to wash, I recommend not putting large pots and pans in the dishwasher. Go ahead and clean those by hand and keep them on the stove to dry. That way you have the full dishwasher available for all of your plates, glasses, and regular silverware. And it would be much easier at the end of the night.
