The eye is one of the most sophisticated organs in the human body. It is comprised of several important parts that function in a way like the way a movie camera works.

To realise how your eyes work, you have to know what the basic structure of an eye is.

The human eye is comprised of three main layers. The outlying one is composed of the cornea (the clear front part of the eye that covers the iris) and the sclera (the white of the eye). The middle layer is composed of the choroids (the vascular layer, providing oxygen and nourishment to the retina), the ciliary body (made up of muscles and specialised eye tissues) and the iris (the coloured part of the eye). The innermost layer of the human eye is the retina. Inside these three layers are the lens and a clear fluid called aqueous humor.
