Restoration Department in the Faculty of Arts, Timisoara

This movie is a presentation of our activity, developed in the Conservation Restoration Department in the Faculty of Arts and Design, of the University of the West in Timisoara. Starting from the research in the field of cultural heritage in our area of Banat (Romania), we developed a high standard of great documentation, gathering ten thousands of pictures and information, which became part of our actual digital data base. The purpose of this documentation is to raise interest on the necessity of acute need for conservation and restoration of our heritage, which draws the outlines of our identity. Our activity regards since 2002 the restoration of hundreds of wooden icons, paintings and liturgical textiles. The teaching program regards also the intention to develop a consistent knowledge in the old masters techniques, starting from the ancient times of european history until present days. The teaching program offers opportunities for graduate studies, master classes and PhD.
