In India, doctors in Jodhpur City are on strike today... protesting the assault of one of their own by police. 30 patients have died as a result.

The situation at the hospitals in India’s Jodhpur City have turned from bad to worse on Tuesday.

The doctors are protesting a police assault on one of their colleagues at the hospital in the city.

The police arrived on the scene when a scuffle broke out between medics and relatives of a patient on Saturday.

Their strike has reportedly cost of the lives of 30 patients.

Patients and their relations say the stances taken by doctors are unethical.

"I asked the doctors to check my wife but they said that they won't as they are on strike today. I don't understand. Is their strike more important than my wife's life."

Doctors who had reported back to work on Tuesday morning were forced to join the strike, despite assurances from authorities that their grievances would be considered.
