India to Have Cleaner Car Fuel

On Wednesday, the Indian government put into effect a new car fuel, the Bharat Stage-IV, which New Delhi and 12 other cities will use by April 1st.

The new fuel is cleaner, but it costs a little more.

[Murli Deora, India's Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister]: (English)
"On the supply side, arrangements have been made to ensure availability of petrol and diesel conforming to Bharat Stage-IV norms from 1st April, 2010 in all the 13 cities specified in the roadmap."

The move will strengthen the government's efforts for a cleaner and greener country that is preparing to host the Commonwealth Games in October this year.
