Gujarat Titans defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 39 runs in IPL 2025 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 21. Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to bowl first. Titans got off to a good start riding on the opening partnership of Shubman Gill (90) and Sai Sudharsan (52). They lost no wickets in the first ten overs and registered a partnership of 112 runs before Andre Russell (1/13) dismissed Sudharsan. Jos Buttler (41) came in and started showing intent putting the hosts under more pressure. Gill tried to join in but lost his wicket to Vaibhav Arora (1/44). Rahul Tewatia couldn't make an impact as he was dismissed by Harshit Rana (1/45) at the death. Buttler remained not out till the end and secured a strong finish for the visitors taking them to a score of 198/3. Kolkata Knight Riders had a poor start to the chase as they lost two wickets in the powerplay. Ajinkya Rahane (50) scored a half-century trying to keep the chase alive, but Venkatesh Iyer scored 14(19) and the loss of momentum there derailed the chase. Despite Rinku Singh (17), Andre Russell (21) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi's (27*) cameos in the end, KKR could only score 159/8. Prasidh Krishna (2/25) and Rashid Khan (2/25) scalped four wickets together. This was Gujarat Titans' sixth victory of IPL 2025 and fifth loss for Kolkata Knight Riders.
