Lucknow Super Giants defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by four runs in IPL 2025 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 8. Batting first on a very good pitch, Lucknow Super Giants were off to a great start as they stitched an opening partnership of 99 runs through Aiden Markram (47) and Mitchell Marsh (81). After Markram was dismissed by Harshit Rana, Nicholas Pooran (87*) came to the crease and dismantled the KKR bowling attack, plundering them for runs. Lucknow Super Giants posted a massive 238/3. Harshit Rana scalped two wickets for Kolkata Knight Riders while Andre Russell scalped one. While chasing, Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a flier as they scored 90 runs in the powerplay with the loss of only one wicket. KKR were in control for a good part of the chase. They were 162/3 at one point when Shardul Thakur dismissed Ajinkya Rahane (61) and in the next over Ravi Bishnoi dismissed Ramandeep Singh. This took out the momentum off the Kolkata Knight Riders innings and they lost quick wickets in the next few overs. Just when the chase was looking out of hand for Kolkata Knight Riders, Rinku Singh showed his true ability and kicked on to score 38* off 15 runs and took the game close. A total of 24 runs were needed off the last over but Rinku Singh and Harshit Rana could only get 19 runs. This is Lucknow Super Giants' third victory of the season and while Kolkata Knight Riders lost their third game.
