00:00The Commission on Elections, or Comelec, has issued a show-cost order to candidates who campaign during Holy Thursday and Good Friday.
00:08Comelec Chair George Irwin Garcia stated that they found four candidates, three running for local positions,
00:13and one partless candidate who posted on social media not just greetings, but also messages encouraging people to vote for them.
00:21The poll body clarified that the issue was with the timing, as campaigning on Holy Thursday and Good Friday was inappropriate.
00:27Though it would have been acceptable on Holy Saturday or Easter Sunday, the candidates are not immediately facing disqualification,
00:35but must first respond to the show-cost orders before any case is filed.
