24:45the gap between Verstappen and Leclerc is now just over five seconds and of course the top six all
24:51on the medium tyre so when Verstappen has to serve his extra five he will at the moment clear Leclerc
24:57but that's why they're pushing on they want him to drop as little as possible basically into the pack
25:04yeah and that's why he's better off with a five second penalty than having to give the place back
25:10because he's got free air in front of him which will help his tyres go quite a bit further and
25:14as Bernie pointed out they had a two or three easy laps anyway behind the safety car gives them
25:20chance to cool down get rid of the thermal degradation especially when the cars are on full tanks of fuel
25:29we have a track limit strike turn two that was for the incident at turn one on lap one
25:34i thought they wouldn't calm down because as you said in the briefing
25:40if it's force majeure i.e another driver has forced you off the track they're not going to count that
25:46Kimi Antonelli one of his strikes in Bahrain was because another driver forced him off the track
25:52and then that was kind of removed which is why he didn't get a penalty even though he got a black and
25:56white flag in Bahrain but i think in this occasion now the stewards have given Max Verstappen a penalty
26:01it's they're saying another driver didn't force you off the track uh yeah i think what he's saying
26:07we discussed this in the driver's briefing Max as usual sitting there driving at 160 mile an hour
26:12average whilst remembering the notes from the driver's briefing but that's actually a fair comment
26:18isn't it hang on a minute you've given me a penalty you've given me a five second penalty
26:23for going off the track and gaining an advantage have i really got a track limits infringement as well
26:28at this point but yes is the answer let's have a look at it again and i'm sure you all want to see
26:33it again Piastri was about two and a half tenths quicker on his reaction that's why he was alongside
26:40and the stewards feeling that he had as much rights to that corner as Max Verstappen did and Max didn't
26:45have a whole lot of steering lock on did he um Max realized he'd lost the corner so comes off the brake
26:52pedal and and inevitably was going to say he didn't leave me any he forced me off the track but um you've
27:00got to get around the corner as well i i think that's a fair cop yeah some people will think Martin
27:07you know i'll try and play devil's advocate to a certain extent where was Max going to go and Piastri
27:12wasn't ahead there yeah but yeah Max came off the brake pedal to carry speed in to claim his right
27:21to go across the runoff area he he's so clever he's got so much control over the car he games the system
27:29but he lost out on that particular uh throw of the dice and back in DRS threat is Oscar Piastri but only
27:37just a very Collins to you yeah i just wanted to come in quickly on the track limits i think it's
27:42because the red bull system will count all of the track limits regardless of that exemption for lap one
27:47turn one and maybe just instinctively Max has been warned about it even though it may not count towards
27:53a further penalty should he exceed it more than three times and then very quickly grafting lots of
27:58discussion of cooling brakes out there drivers really struggling in the traffic to keep these cars
28:03engines brakes all at the right temperature doesn't surprise me at all 29 degrees just think about
28:09your gap the car ahead with any uh overheating on the front guys do you not see there's a fire right
28:15behind me as well are we not thinking about that yeah uh James Irwin the race engineer for Alex Albon
28:23uh just pointing out that you're overheating a bit but Alex Albon rightly pointing out i've got Isaac
28:30Hadja right behind me if i back off that much he is right in the uh danger zone for me what Piastri needs
28:37to do meanwhile as we ride on board with him he just occasionally Martin dips under that one second
28:42advantage but then he he loses a little bit more time through the first sector and it's whether he can
28:48gain you know three or four tenths maybe on the the second half of the track that's his key to getting
28:54consistent DRS here i think if this if he's all synced up to the sound Piastri lifted off quite early
29:01there i don't think he wants to get too close to that red bull at the moment till he can get rid of
29:05some fuel load and uh be interesting to see if he offsets down the straight but he's far enough behind
29:14to uh yeah just offset a little bit just to keep everything cool and now he's got some DRS as well
29:21so um yeah Piastri's managing he's got a faster car um Max has got the penalty and and Piastri knows
29:31that he just has to wait until the pit stop phase and he'll have the clear air providing they have clean
29:35pit stops meanwhile as you can see his teammate Lando Norris is now gaining on Lewis Hamilton
29:41and he's got DRS too and on the last lap was four tenths faster than the Ferrari of the seven-time
29:47world champion how's the pace how's the tyres yeah i mean tyres are hot so yeah clean air would be
29:54incredible not sure why where you find any clear air at the moment maybe once he gets past Lewis
30:01Hamilton because it's looking a little bit inevitable uh for that Lando Norris is going to do that there is a
30:07bigger gap uh to Kimi Antonelli that's uh that Lando can uh drive through and get that precious
30:13clean air on this humid humid night on the shores of the Red Sea yeah bear in mind his tyres should go
30:18that uh good bit further as well so Antonelli's good pace mid 34s not bad at all hanging on in there
30:26keeping Leclerc in view uh and again then Norris is either Norris needs is another move he now needs
30:34to make quite quickly isn't it and then he can get a bit of a breather there he is and there is Piastri
30:42ever closer to the Red Bull but he's really got to watch but the McLaren does seem very good on
30:49cooling here we go this is Lando Norris on Lewis Hamilton into that final corner Norris looks like
30:56he's got the job done and has and will get DRS to help him i would imagine because he would have been
31:02within a second Lewis has got the DRS now so Lewis overtakes him again so Lando maybe made the move a
31:11bit too early there went through the next detection zone ahead of the Ferrari yeah and that's why he didn't
31:16get the DRS yeah he got them he moved too early and Lewis knows that of course remember 2021 with him
31:23and Max literally coming to blows out there trying not to cross that line first yes the uh the brake
31:31test of 2021 as we watch one McLaren chasing after a Ferrari and the other McLaren chasing after a Red Bull
31:41Lando Norris briefly got ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Hamilton used all his experience there
31:45to nick that place right back again while all this is going on uh under pressure uh Ollie
31:52Behrman has been overtaken by Liam Lawson Lawson moves up into uh 12th place and showing a little
31:58bit more pace ahead of the Haas uh Jack Doohan is gaining on Nico Hulkenberg he's within DRS as is
32:05Esteban Ocon on Jack Doohan too in the minor places currently surprising amount of tire marbles uh beside the
32:13the racing line I just saw a few corners back suggesting to me that there's a reasonable amount
32:18of tire wear going on out there which is uh good in terms of degradation and helping uh get a bit more
32:25excitement and overtaking as Lando Norris later on the brakes the Lewis Hamilton almost went into the
32:30back yeah well Lewis is trying for the DRS zone again isn't he but and and he's got it yeah Lewis very
32:37nearly got rear-ended there Lando needs to try and break the toe and he's not doing that and he's also not
32:41keeping Lewis Hamilton at bay in for the second successive lap Norris gets ahead of the Ferrari
32:46and the Ferrari takes the place right back again yeah a little bit naughty there of Lewis I have to
32:50say and well we saw we had a we saw such a fight didn't we so so brutal between him and Max down there
32:59at the uh at that line but it gives you the DRS then that the detection point is in just before the
33:05braking zone so and Lando was trying to wait but then Lewis wouldn't let him wait and he had to duck
33:12out behind him he needs to be a little bit earlier on the brakes next time around Lando Norris it didn't
33:19look quite as bad off board as it looked on board and this is what it looked like when Lewis was powering
33:24down the straight with that 16 kilometers an hour of extra pace advantage that the DRS brings
33:30when you get to the end of the straight uh the trouble they've got now is they're 13 seconds off
33:37the lead that's two thirds of a pit stop that they're off the lead Norris and Hamilton while
33:42they're squabbling it's costing them time uh and extending his lead a little bit Max Verstappen
33:48they're now hovering about 1.2 seconds out in front okay mate strat 8 strat 8 play the game yeah so he's got
33:55to follow Lewis into the last corner because i think the the detection line is just on the exit
34:01isn't it this time this time he has absolutely uh followed Lewis Hamilton and now strat 8 turn the
34:08engine up a little bit if it was a beans if it was a speaker you'd turn it up to 11 which is what
34:13he's doing now uh with that DRS wheel to wheel with Lewis Hamilton down the straight is probably using
34:18electrical energy himself to try and keep on pace with the McLaren but the DRS helps Lando Norris
34:25through third time of asking he's got the job done kind of couple of laps wasted there but as you
34:29say got the job done but he's now 14 and a half seconds off the lead key thing for Lando Norris is
34:36that he's now got about three and a half seconds of clear air to try and help cool the tires and the
34:43car down before he gets anywhere near a Kimi Antonelli in the Mercedes so Norris started 10th he's now
34:49up to six Verstappen started on pole he continues to lead and he has a five second penalty to serve
34:56at his pit stop which if he did that and all things been equal on the state uh the stoppage time
35:01he would come out ahead of George Russell as it stands now and i mentioned that Liam Lawson had got
35:06past Ollie Bearman Liam Lawson is making another overtake here and this time on Fernando Alonso
35:13so he moves himself up behind his teammate Isaac Hadja and into 11th place Karun down to you
35:19yeah Fernando Alonso not happy there Croft a few laps ago he said i don't know how i lost the DRS to
35:23Hadja i'm dead now sure enough dropping like a stone no straight line speed uh just quick line of
35:29Verstappen he is now cleared that five seconds to George Russell so assuming the pit stops are the
35:36same Red Bull and Mercedes he will clear Russell despite the penalty extraordinary pace from Verstappen
35:42and Piastri up front let's see what Lando can now do in free air Verstappen the only driver lapping in
35:48the 133s uh currently Piastri a couple of tenths behind him on the uh last lap and Norris immediately
35:55takes three quarters of a second out of Kimi Antonelli's advantage he'll be with him in three or
36:01four laps every possibility that Lando Norris could lead this race at some stage when drivers come
36:09into the pits and then a late safety car would would really help his help his evening on board with
36:16Lewis Hamilton
36:17Lewis Hamilton and they're just sliding around out here making lots of rears yeah understood we
36:25believe it's overheating i to gain the back still struggling to adapt to that Ferrari car how does
36:32he gain it back if the rears are overheating i don't really understand the line i can't turn the rears to
36:38be honest um but yeah so basically as long as you haven't completely changed the property of the surface of
36:45the compound you you've just got to not punish the car punish the rear tires coming out of the
36:52slow corners Bernie what can you tell us
36:55yes i just wanted to pick up on what Corinne mentioned there about Alonso it seems maybe not
36:59important to the leaders race but it is Alonso is pushing to do a pit stop and that could begin to bring
37:05this midfield those around p10 and p11 in for a pit stop that opens a nice window for Piastri
37:13Russell Leclerc anyone who wants to make a go at undercutting Verstappen with that five second
37:18penalty and Norris has proven that the hard tire at this stage of the race is the better
37:23tire to be on so when that window starts to open which should be in the next few laps
37:29is that going to push someone to try and have a go at that Verstappen undercut with that five
37:34second penalty and don't discount Isaac Hadja as well also running the hard compound tire uh being
37:40ahead of Max Verstappen uh when Verstappen uh pits if he was to do that now he would be very much ahead
37:47of him that's a big old ground strike with the skid blocks isn't it but uh yeah so Verstappen then built
37:55a 1.8 second lead out there obviously moving towards the pit stop phase and uh really doing
38:03what he needs to do out front and there's the discarded rubber i was telling you about which
38:08suggests a higher wear rate than we were perhaps expecting yeah i'm just the one line going through
38:15there yeah a bit of a goat track through there wasn't it it was a little bit what we're seeing here
38:19is evidence that Verstappen has managed his tires in the early stages as you say Martin now pushing
38:26that bit harder so the pit stops normally follow uh two or three laps uh after that looking straight
38:32into the Red Bull garage no one's really moving much uh currently uh they're all sat down the crew
38:38waiting for the instructions they are at Ferrari as they are at McLaren too and here's the battle
38:44between Antonelli and Norris one lap it's coming yeah so they can't pit Verstappen or Piastri and
38:51Russell etc because they'll just drop back into a lot of traffic um as Norris does his fastest lap of
38:58the race also in the one minute 33s like Verstappen so he's marching on really nicely on those tires
39:05is Lando and of course the mediums at the end on lower fuel with the more rubbered in racetrack
39:10there'll be a better tire than they were to start on anyway so he's sitting pretty at the moment he's
39:15got good track position good pace and four wheels on his wagon he's managed to navigate those early
39:22laps and overtakes so uh that's looking pretty good for him uh Piastri doesn't really care who finishes
39:29second or third i guess so he'll just wait for Verstappen's pit stop but it's about a one and a half
39:35second undercut you'll gain a second and a half by pitting a lap earlier than your rivals
39:41and as soon as there's a gap as soon as there's a gap they'll be bringing Verstappen Piastri in will
39:47McLaren try to destabilize Red Bull a little bit um do they need to with Verstappen's five second penalty
39:54not really do they no George Russell meanwhile my tires are toast well unless he's got a nice pot of
40:02strawberry jam to spread over them he's not going to get any more stickiness from those tonight but
40:06if they pitted George Russell uh now with those uh toasty tires he's going to come back they come out
40:12behind Isaac Hadja so he's going to have to try and extend this stint just that little bit longer
40:17on board with Norris gaining on Kimi Antonelli Fernando Alonso we saw on your screen uh catching up
40:23with Liam Lawson once again after being overtaken uh by Lawson he is going to get DRS oh we're on board we'll
40:29get DRS here and look at the closing speed that Lando Norris is getting and Kimi Antonelli
40:34I think knows that his fight is not with Lando Norris on that particular straight and doesn't really
40:39put up much of a fight Norris up now into the top five and you look at Norris you think could they
40:45actually do like three quarters of the race those tires they probably can can't they yeah um you know
40:51just keep going and then give yourself a lovely tire offset at the end as long as you don't drop pace
40:57uh they'll keep an eye on that right they are they are putting pressure on Red Bull then uh and Cohen
41:04Russell by pitting Piastri early it's a question then of which gap which traffic he'll go back into Oscar
41:12Piastri is just going through turn 19 at the moment and nobody is moving in that McLaren garage Karin
41:18Chan not down to you yeah you're right let's wait and see because they've done the dummy box before
41:23haven't they they're getting ready Karin in the Red Bull garage yes there's a gap they're aiming for the
41:28gap between Carlos Sainz still pulling away from the cars behind Max there's still traffic that we
41:35were pit into just keep going this is a fantastic job yeah there's a four second gap that's what
41:39they're aiming for between Sainz and Hamilton and he's not quite there yet with the five second penalty
41:45but Piastri's coming in I could see him coming in the McLaren pits McLaren are ready for him uh Red Bull
41:50came out and have gone back in again so Verstappen carries on his uh merry way doing that fabulous
41:57job that Jean-Pierre Lambiasi told him Piastri then stops for his pit stop that was a bit slow
42:033.4 seconds so he's lost about 1.2 seconds there in the pit stop I think they wanted to cover off George
42:10Russell as much as anything with Verstappen's five second penalty and you might as well get on those
42:15tyres and use them up it's just a question of where Piastri feeds out into the pack isn't it
42:21Antonelli uh pits as well and Fernando Alonso comes into the pits and Piastri's come out behind
42:28Hamilton and ahead of Sainz so he's down in sixth place yeah and he'll be past Hamilton in a flash on
42:34those tyres and up up to the behind his teammate Lando Norris who I don't think will be giving him
42:39too much of a problem so that's actually worked out well for McLaren and uh enabled them to
42:48to uh basically make sure they stay ahead of Russell Antonelli and co and of course McLaren have a
42:55brilliant array of data from those hard compound tyres that Lando Norris has been running in this race so
43:01far Max Verstappen is being told to push and push hard uh by his race engineer and they're drifting out
43:08into the pit lane waiting to service him and give him some new tyres and this is what happened to Oscar
43:14Piastri it's just a little bit slow all around there and they'll be a bit unhappy so Verstappen has got a
43:21five second penalty he's carrying on for another lap but in terms of time lost in the pit lane it's probably
43:28only about four seconds now due to Piastri stopping for longer yeah a little bit uh longer but he's got
43:34he can use those fresh tyres in comes George Russell now from third hard tyres going on to his Mercedes nice
43:43stop from the Mercedes crew 2.4 seconds one second faster than Oscar Piastri and he will come out into
43:51this race in about seventh place lap 21 of 50 here in Jeddah we welcome our viewers to Sky Sports main event
44:03where Max Verstappen leads this Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and he's led it from the start but it was a
44:08controversial moment right at the start where he went off the track under pressure from Oscar Piastri
44:14and left the track and gained an advantage in the process he's got a five second time penalty to
44:20serve when he makes his pit stop Piastri was running second he's down in fifth now after making the pit
44:26stop so he is a net second potentially a net first and it's all down to what Max Verstappen can do
44:32on these laps to try and offset that five second penalty meanwhile Lando Norris who started tenth has been
44:40out has been out throughout and is currently running in um no Norris running in third place Piastri getting
44:48past Lewis Hamilton and that was absolutely sensational through turn 22 it was you need to keep you don't
44:55pick up punctures off the beaten track like that but um and also he needs to be careful that Hamilton
45:02doesn't get DRS down the back down the pit straight yeah but that was really crucial not to be held up by
45:07Lewis Hamilton absolutely as Max Verstappen now pits they waited the five seconds he's on his way
45:14they've serviced those tires Piastri's making his way down the main straight with Hamilton right behind
45:20him this is the battle for the net lead you can see Verstappen making his way out of the pits and you
45:25can see Piastri going through and now ahead of that Red Bull driver so Verstappen pushed and he pushed hard
45:32but it didn't make up enough grounds to stay ahead of Piastri well now we're going to see a race because
45:38Max is not going to take this one easily he'll be absolutely at his peak to try to get that lead
45:44back but uh Piastri fast car fast tires fast driver he'll take some beating from there but I sense it'll
45:52be a very determined Max Verstappen and there he is in the background yeah let's just have a little look
45:58here at how Oscar Piastri got past Lewis Hamilton and he was being told on the team radio
46:03catch him by surprise do it somewhere that you're not he's not expecting and it was just in the turn
46:0921 that's that was super that was reminiscent of uh Baku and Charles Leclerc last year Melbourne when he
46:16went around the outside of Lewis on the last lap wasn't it I was thinking turn nine yeah but I was
46:21thinking back to Baku last year do you remember when uh Tom Stallard his his race engineer was saying
46:27yes take your time bring the tires up he's like no I need to get past the Ferrari and I'm going to
46:31do it in the turn one as quickly as I can yeah so we've got a race on our hands now Leclerc up in
46:36second at the moment hasn't pitted currently doing personal bests though Leclerc leading now uh again a
46:43personal best and there's Lando Norris then up into second place for now yet to pit also there's his
46:50teammate who has pitted and Verstappen not that and he's got a bit of DRS from Lewis as well
46:58so Verstappen on the march it was uh
47:01consider plan B let's see how we thought it's good consider plan B says George Russell two stopper
47:11hasn't it presumably so on board with Max Verstappen as we we saw Oscar Piastri and then it was like
47:19Verstappen in the background like some turbocharged shark chasing after the man in the speed boats
47:25with uh with the Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton right in the middle now how long does it take Verstappen
47:31to get past Lewis Hamilton that could be key and crucial as well we're going through the banking at
47:37turn 13 there's no room to try and get past there and this is Verstappen losing a little bit of time
47:42as Hamilton places his Ferrari absolutely perfectly in defense yeah the Ferrari's all over the track
47:49it's not got any grip but at the moment he's still got track position and as you say
47:55it's costing Max despite the DRS and he hasn't managed the big outside overtake that was uh that
48:01was a key little overtake it's all about unorthodox there from Oscar Piastri yeah he's uh he's done it
48:08before it's a great effect as well and he might have just done it a very good effect there Lewis Hamilton
48:13is coming into the pits Verstappen's going to try and go around the outside into the final corner
48:19he does make that move Hamilton will have DRS down the straight but
48:23he's going to dive over to the left-hand side and pit so Verstappen is released to chase after Oscar
48:30Piastri and we can head down to Karun Chandor yeah Piastri was told to just bring the tyres in sensibly once
48:35he got clear of Lewis Hamilton did a couple of laps dropped in a high 133 but he's just bashed in the
48:41fastest lap of the race at 33-1 so Piastri now 3.8 ahead of Max Verstappen who's 2.7 to George Russell
48:51I am intrigued to see whether what they do at Norwich here how deep can they go because his last lap
48:58only four tenths off despite the tyres being 19 laps older than Piastri they might as well if Lando can keep
49:05sort of in the ballpark on his lap times they might as well give him a lovely big tyre offset
49:09some fresh boots at the end of the Grand Prix he'll drop into a bigger gap behind as well so the moment
49:16they sense Norris's tyres are beginning to to fail him uh they've really got to get on with it won't be
49:22yet won't be yet though but they they mustn't waste laps when his tyres have gone but they can give him a
49:29lovely lovely offset but Piastri is getting on it now isn't he fastest first sector fastest second
49:35sector of anybody in the Grand Prix so far on the last lap he was a second faster than Max Verstappen so
49:41that makes up for the second that he lost during the pit stop when he was a bit slow and stationary
49:46meanwhile here's Carlos Sainz and uh Jack Doohan going uh duelling down the main straight and Sainz uh moving
49:53his way up into uh into 12th place if they pitted Lando Norris uh now he'd come out round about just
50:04ahead maybe of Isaac Hadja who's running the hard tyre and has been right from the start so that would be
50:10p5 wouldn't it he would come out so it's p6 yeah p6 he's not they're not going to pit him that far down
50:20the order but they can probably wait another 10 laps if these times are good enough Piastri meanwhile
50:25another fastest lap of the race yeah three quarters a second faster than Verstappen Verstappen's got no
50:31answer to Piastri does he want an answer right now does he want to take all that life out of the tyres
50:36but Piastri seems very happy out front there's Liam Lawson on uh Gabriel Bortoleto and oh Gabriel
50:43Bortoleto making contact there with Fernando Alonso his manager yes that's going to be an
50:49interesting uh management meeting uh tomorrow or later on this evening uh Alonso gives the place
50:55back uh sensibly I think there as well I think Bortoleto just trying to move out of the way and
51:01and not fighting Lawson and then Alonso's right there trying to pick up the pieces and he had nowhere
51:06to go yeah indeed Bernie what can you tell us yeah so just having a look at what would happen if there
51:11was a safety car now and it would play lovely into Leclerc and Norris's hands any safety car at this
51:16stage before they stop Leclerc obviously in those 24 lap old medium tires from the start of the race
51:23and if I look at his pit window it's just ahead do you want to talk to this replay well yeah Bortoleto
51:28just moving over to take that racing line wow he moved under braking oh that was close
51:35wow so close check the car so close to the safety car you were just talking about Bernie
51:40yeah exactly a bit of a bone scraper almost there for Fernando Alonso down the side of the wall
51:46yeah so I was just going to say Leclerc and Norris obviously would benefit from the safety car now
51:50Leclerc's pit window is just ahead of Antonelli and Antonelli isn't actually going any quicker than
51:56Leclerc at this stage so there's also no push for Leclerc to pit which is why he's extending this
52:01medium tire further into the race than most others have done Ferrari leading then with
52:07Charles Leclerc Lando Norris second having not pitted either of them Piastri the net leader having
52:15pitted Verstappen behind him on board with Fernando Alonso gets past Gabriel Bortoleto
52:20and this time around an awful lot easier Bortoleto has been running those hard tires
52:25right from the start by the way which is why he wasn't putting up too much in the fight
52:28William Lawson who has pitted but so is Norris hasn't he so they're hanging on on the McLaren
52:34which probably is a little bit kinder on its tires and its driver knows somewhat more uh than uh
52:41than Bortoleto as does Norris about how to look after the tires just looking at the timing screens
52:47here I think Max Verstappen has has gently brought those hard tires in now and is starting to feel the
52:54full benefits of them because he's lapping uh within a few hundredths of a second of Piastri trouble for
52:59him is he's four and a half seconds behind and he's got quite a gap to try and make up he's in the 32s
53:05again Piastri Max Verstappen 33-0 so at the moment Piastri has got what it's uh what he needs to
53:13maintain that gap they're slowly homing in on Lando Norris it might be handy for McLaren to leave
53:20Norris out there for a while actually but they want to they want to do the best race for him
53:25and right now if Norris uh pitted he'd come out quite close to the back of George Russell but he
53:31needs a bigger tire offset than that I'll tell you what is interesting as well Lando Norris because of
53:35that crash in Q3 has a new set of soft compound tires that he could run right at the end of this race
53:41say there were 10 laps to go and they thought that was a good time to pit him they could put him on the
53:46softs yeah possibly uh Verstappen a three tenths of a second up in the first sector on this lap
53:52he's getting on with it now as is Oli Behrman down in 17th getting past the uh Sauber of Gabriel
54:00Bortoleto who are two of the six rookies that we've got in Formula One uh this season they would
54:05have been racing against each other of course in F2 last year which Bortoleto won and on this
54:11particular weekend the weekend of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix uh Oli Behrman took pole for
54:16the F2 feature race and then lost two points because he couldn't take it because he was driving
54:20a Ferrari instead when Carlos Sainz had his appendix out he was teammate to this man Charles Leclerc who
54:26leads by just over three seconds from Lando Norris and out in front the uh the gap pretty much staying
54:33the same here Leclerc doing a very fine job on those medium tires he is Lando on the hard compound
54:40tire that looked the favorites but uh at the moment and he'll have to go on to the mediums of course
54:45but as we say track rubbered in a bit fuel load more than halved um so i think it'll be a better
54:52tire for him uh towards the end of the race he needs that big offset he needs to go as far as he can
54:59to give himself that's what these two are doing out there now waiting for the safety car if not get as
55:04far as you can and give yourself some fresher tires in the closing stages Charles Leclerc leading
55:09then the man that's finished on the podium in 2022 here and 2024 and has finished seventh in 21 and 23
55:16so when it's an odd numbered year he finishes seventh and when it's an even numbered year he
55:20finished on the podium let's hope that uh comes to an end that particular run this evening Lawson gets
55:25past uh doing and science gets past Hulkenberg and back up into the top 10. Lawson got a bit deep
55:31yeah he did Jack wants to try and fight that one back a little bit and right behind uh these two
55:37Fernando Alonso are waiting to try and pounce Alonso's teammate Lance Stroll running ninth
55:43Hulkenberg running tenth they haven't pitted yet Hadja runs six he hasn't pitted yet Leclerc and Norris
55:50out in front haven't pitted and we lost Sonoda and Gasly at turn four on the opening lap and this is
55:55how Carlos Sainz got past Nico Hulkenberg expect to see at least one of the Williams in the points
56:02tonight don't we yeah Norris gets his first track his first track limits i think it is his first track
56:08limit isn't it for Lando Norris yes doing uh Lawson going a little bit uh too deep but he wanted to make
56:16sure he didn't get a track limit violation this has Isaac Hadja who i've been mentioning now has
56:22Kimi Antonelli right behind him after Antonelli pitted for a fresh set of boots it's George Russell
56:30and the other Mercedes making it any gains on Verstappen not currently at the moment Verstappen
56:36and Piastri the two drivers lapping in the one minute 32s and as i said you know a few hundredths per lap
56:43tenth maybe on another lap between the two drivers it's great work from Leclerc and Norris up front
56:49still in the low one minute 33s Piastri and Verstappen with fresh tyres in the late one minute 32s but it's
56:57it's fast enough out front at the moment as they if they can keep this pace up for another
57:03uh 10 laps certainly five yeah we're on lap 29 of 50. the race lap record here at 130.7 set by Lewis
57:12Hamilton last year we've been talking about the tyres going a step softer the lap times are not
57:18giving us the fastest uh race that we probably expected here around Jeddah so maybe there's a bit
57:24of tyre management going on out there yeah and also it's later in the year isn't it it's quite a bit
57:29warmer than we're it's probably what five weeks later than last year yeah it's uh the first time
57:34we've run here in April this is Fernando Alonso uh making his move on uh Jack Dunn and into the pit
57:42comes Charles Leclerc so the Ferrari crew get to work that was beautiful uh from the team there all four
57:51tyres take it off put back on two seconds have some of that that it that shout formula one harder than
57:58anything else that's formula one 26 people around a car in up off on down go 2.0 superb
58:09kivi antonelli on the main straight getting past isaac hadger moving up in the sixth place and if you're
58:15thinking on bank holiday monday back in the uk tomorrow of going and getting your tyres changed
58:20uh challenge the people doing it to a two second uh stop see if there's anyone that can come up
