00:00Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy marked Easter Sunday with a message of resilience and hope, urging citizens not to give up faith that peace will return to their war-torn country, now 1,152 days into the conflict.
00:18Wearing a traditional grey vishovanka, an embroidered Ukrainian shirt, Zelenskyy stood in front of Kyiv's historic St. Sophia Cathedral in a video shared on social media. He emphasized the strength and unity of the Ukrainian people.
00:48Because evil has its time, and God has its day.
00:54On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a one-day Easter ceasefire, an unusual gesture, as this year Easter falls on the same date for both Orthodox and Western churches.
01:07But Zelenskyy dismissed the move, saying Russian forces continued attacks overnight, despite claims of a pause.
01:15We know, what we protect, we know, what we fight, for whom and for whom.
01:23And so, every once in a while, as hard as we could not be, we still don't lose faith.
01:30It's the day of life, the day of peace, the day of Ukraine, the day of a century, the day of a century.
01:38And we will be able to gather together again, with one table, in a peaceful big day.
