00:00For 13 years, I have been a community leader as well as a branch activist.
00:05So over the years, I've served with dedicated activists, advocating for you,
00:11helping with your problems and listening to your hopes and aspirations.
00:14But more than solving problems, I've done my best to be a listening year.
00:19And I'm grateful that some of those I've supported now see me as a friend.
00:25So the question is, why am I stepping up as a candidate?
00:31First, I have a personal conviction to give back to Singapore,
00:35this very same country that the PAP government has built.
00:40Secondly, as a mother, I feel a sense of mission,
00:44a mission to safeguard the next generation, the future for the next generation, our children.
00:51And I do know that it's a huge step up from activism to politics.
00:59And many well-meaning friends have tried to dissuade me.
01:04But I am a fighter, and I'm not one to back down from a challenge.
01:09As a maritime lawyer, I've stood my ground in high-pressured and adversarial environments.
01:15And I do know, deep down in my heart, to make a bigger difference,
01:20I need to step into the political arena.
01:25I want to be a bridge builder, someone who brings people together
01:29to make Mountbatten not just a constituency, but a home where hopes can be nurtured.
01:36Let's create a Mountbatten, where no one ever feels alone.
01:44Let Mountbatten be our home and our hope.
