00:00Let's see his form here in this heat. First one for the 450s here in Midlife
00:07Stadium. Good start, Justin Hill on the inside, good start Barsha and also Chase
00:13Sexton. I thought Chase Sexton was gonna get closed down but man he crept
00:19around the inside. He's got the preferred line right here this is gonna set him up
00:24perfectly to make the move. On the inside of Shane McElrath who made a brilliant
00:28start. Career high result recently his first ever podium in the premier class
00:34for Shane McElrath so confidence is high in the quad block Honda camp. Then Justin
00:39Barsha and then the Suzuki of Ken Rockson making a swift move on the inside. I love
00:43these that 90 degree corner right before the finish line. Oh let's go for it again
00:50gotcha yeah he's able to do it got a good drive out of that corner put the power to
00:56the ground dope to the inside close the door on the 12.
01:01This next couple laps would be interesting to see if Kenny can make some ground up on
01:06Chase Sexton. Kenny always so explosive early on in these races and I'll tell you
01:12what kid Rockson has done an incredible job racing banged up. Oh look at
01:16McElrath wasn't able to triple out of that corner.
01:22Justin Barsha looking for options and looking around because he knows that
01:28Justin Hill is not too far behind. Yeah that was great for the 12 of Shane McElrath to
01:35hold that position because I thought for sure that the 51 of Barsha had him
01:38covered but go back to Kent Rockson he's been banged up for the last four or five
01:42weeks. Yeah the AC separation on the shoulder he told me last week that that's
01:47actually feeling a lot better but it's his ankle and any external rotation
01:52really just hurts him. He's got some ligament damage there just trying to make
01:57it to the end of the season with the best finish that he can do.
02:00Looking at Shane McElrath aboard the 12 in third Barsha fourth let's go up to the
02:04head of the field because Rockson has some pretty swift pace going at the moment as
02:09he chases down Chase Sexton race leader. He was the fastest guy on the track he
02:17was three tenths two and a half tenths faster last lap. What you got JT?
02:22I'm just thinking about Ken Rockson he's been so fast early on which is really his
02:26calling card as you mentioned Ricky but what I'll be watching for is can he
02:30sustain this pace because that has been the problem you see him poke up the
02:34inside they're trying to make a move on Sexton it's the late laps maybe a minute
02:3812 and on where the ankle injury and the shoulder injury starts to add up a
02:42little bit it's a little bit too much to hold on to so let's see if he's been
02:45able to close that gap on the injury here coming into East Rutherford.
02:48And I got an update from Ken today saying he just got the MRI back on the
02:53ankle that you guys were just talking about there and torn ligaments like you
02:57said Ricky and some bone bruising too but the good news from the team is that he did
03:01turn some laps during the week that has not been the case in past weeks since the
03:05injury usually he just kind of keeps it bellow even through qualifying he pushed
03:09harder through qualifying today so maybe a good sign moving forward for Ken Rockson.
03:12The 30 year old has displayed so much grit this season and so close to a
03:19championship hey it's not over yet but it sort of is and he knows that that he's up
03:25against them with just today and three more rounds left in the Monster and GAMA
03:30Supercross championship he's done so well got that got that career big one that
03:34first victory in Daytona earlier in the season and it's just holistically has been
03:39riding so very well.
03:41Just him and the team and Larry Brooks the team manager what they've been able to
03:45build and the culture over there is something that Ken has really taken a
03:52liking to has a lot of confidence in that race team and his results speak for that and
03:57Larry Brooks is an incredible team manager and has many many Supercross
04:03championships working with legends in the sport like Jeremy McGrath the king of
04:07Supercross well last time we were here in MetLife Stadium was two years ago where
04:12the rider of the 51 the Rockstar Gas Gas Justin Barsha stood on the top step of
04:19the podium it was in a horrendous night for weather and the mud and the rain and the
04:24lightning and the storms whirl but Justin was the one who came out of it the best so
04:29happy memories here in Jersey.
04:30Adversity Lee does not seem to bother Justin Barsha and he's got some that he's facing right now
04:36too. A week and a half ago he took a practice crash the bar hit his finger on his right hand
04:42split it open and he had a laceration unbelievably no fracture but he's had to take up those fingers so
04:48his index finger there on that right hand that's his front break he's had to take those two fingers
04:53together in order to get enough strength to use his break. He said once I can start moving that finger more and the swelling comes down I'm going to need to take those two fingers together in order to get enough strength to use his break.
04:56He said once I can start moving that finger more and the swelling comes down I'm going to need those fingers back to grip the bike so making the decision right now a tough one do I grip the bike or do I use my front brake?
05:07It's a everything's a compromise one thing about Justin Barsha he's going to give it a hundred percent grew up in this area a lot of friends and family here support him and let's be honest everywhere you go he's got a lot of fans support.
05:26Here we go inside move on Shane McElrath nudges up alongside him a little bit of contact there and Barsha is through in the third spot.
05:39Meanwhile just a few moments ago check out this from the Liqui Moly beta rider Benny Bloss.
05:44Yeah 57 and then he blocks over jumps that rhythm jump in the rhythm lane there and that was a nice save.
05:53And he has now fallen very very close to Kate Clayson who's intent looking for that ninth and final spot.
06:02So championship leader Cooper Webb is watching his rival out in front Chase Sexton who's now inside the final two laps from home and another heat victory.
06:12Nobody has more heat wins this year than this man in the top box Chase Sexton.
06:16Looking really good and I like how if I'm Chase Sexton and knowing or watching that bike and how it works in these drier looser conditions.
06:29I feel like this is where his bike excels and really caters to his riding style much different than earlier today.
06:37This might be playing right into Chase Sexton's hands Will.
06:42Ricky just a quick point here I heard from the team that he has not touched the bike all day today.
06:48I know that's very telling for you.
06:50Yeah when you when you're riding your motorcycle and you don't have to make any adjustments to it Lee.
06:55That is this means that you are super comfortable.
07:00When you look at the complexion of the top nine going straight through to the main huge for all three Suzuki riders.
07:07Ken Roxton Chisholm and Nichols they're all in direct transfer positions at the moment.
07:12And both beta riders Mitchell Oldenburg's in sixth behind Justin Hill.
07:16Oldenburg we watched him up close earlier today and he's been pretty snappy all day long.
07:21Yeah he had some serious speed in the whoops in particular.
07:25I'm like wow man this guy is rolling from the eye test.
07:28He looked to be one of the fastest guys in that beta racing team have done a great job with extending their contract with Benny Bloss.
07:35And Oldenburg just re-signed his.
07:39Nice.
07:40End of the first 450 heat.
07:42And nobody better than Chase Sexton.
07:45Yet another heat win this year.
07:48Nobody has more.
07:50That's six.
07:51That's four.
07:52That's six.
07:53.
07:57.
07:59.
08:11.
