00:00Achieved his first 250 podium in the mud in Massachusetts. He's still pumped about that first-time winner
00:07Chance Hymas on screen. He won that Foxborough race. He's ready to go. It's the first heat of the 250 East division here in New Jersey
00:15Let's do it
00:18Racing in the afternoon and Hymas gets away to a good start
00:22Pushes through on the inside
00:24Making a great start to know it was like sure
00:29An incredible start for Lane Shaw and you think about against the guys that he's going for these
00:38Lane Shaw somehow stayed on his motorcycle got bulldozed by Hampshire and continues
00:45Incredible save by Shaw for sure, but also by RJ Hampshire that was extremely close great heads-up riding early on
00:53Incredibly hard to do because it's so jam-packed
00:58Chance Hymas aboard his Honda HRC bike leads the way RJ Hampshire
01:04In that Rockstar Energy Factory Husqvarna is in pursuit through the first section of the whoops remember Jason told us about that
01:10The 180 turn and here they come again. That's right. If you are a whoop guy you are absolutely loving
01:17back-to-back whoop sections and
01:19Whoa, let's watch the number 10
01:21Chance Hymas gets that front in a little low
01:27Got an awkward kick off the takeoff of the triple, but it was a nice save. Let's relive that opening lap with Lane Shaw made a phenomenal start
01:36This is on the left-hand side of your screen and yeah, it just gets kind of crossed up
01:48Now Ricky earlier in the day we saw this down trackside this was in the first time qualifying practice champs Hymas got flung from his bike
01:56Did a half a superman
01:58Yeah, a great dismount for sure that and look at the difference in track
02:03There was a lot of grip on this racetrack early on today and if the Sun poked out
02:08Around noon time and it has really tried this racetrack up and what that's going to do is going to create looser conditions
02:14With less traction and less runs we each
02:23Talking to chance Hymas guys earlier on today. He seems honestly a little bit frantic. He was they were trying to find a good suspension setting
02:31He said he found three completely different settings that they were working on trying to get balance in the bike front to back
02:37And those works that JT spoke about earlier that kind of point where he said there may be trouble for some guys
02:42That's where they were trying to get the balance through
02:44He was just kind of leaving this open and said we're just gonna have to perhaps go back to an earlier setting and see how it goes
02:50Well right now the chart timersen seems to be working out working out really well
02:54He has a one-and-a-half second lead over RJ Hampshire tied at the top of the championship RJ with a really nice run through the whops
03:00Then Austin Faulkner aboard the works triumph there. He is there in the background with that bright yellow helmet
03:06He's had a really improved performance here so far this weekend
03:10He was second quickest in the first time qualifier for fastest in the second time qualifier
03:15And this is promising signs for the 13 time 250 main event winner. Yeah
03:21Well, he just lost some track position early on in that first lap and a half and you take guys like
03:26Hymas and Hampshire when they're able to pull away really early on in the race
03:30It's tough for a guy like Austin Forkner to keep up when he was kind of caught behind Simonson
03:38Venice and Clark and those guys and it's just really tough to make up that kind of ground
03:42But he has had an extraordinary day really fast and time qualifying practice like you guys were alluding to and sometimes that is just what a rider like
03:51Austin Forkner needs to get the ball rolling and this is an incredible athlete that throughout his whole career
03:57Has been one of the fastest guys on a motorcycle. He's just outside the top ten in the points
04:03He's had two top ten race results so far this year in his first season aboard the triumph
04:09And runs in a solid third at the moment two minutes plus a lap to go on the clock
04:13The 3.51 of Jack Rogers. Oh down goes Austin Forkner
04:19He had had such a clean run so far. He had a light tip over earlier today. That's not what he needed in this heat race
04:27Get back going. Oh
04:29Oh, that's two positions. I'm just saying if you can get back go it looks like it's front number plate is off that can be a huge distraction
04:35Maybe it broke the front number plate the bike made impact ground
04:41That was Isaiah Clark and Cullen Park who came together there after the Austin Forkner incident. Well, that's a difficult corner and 90 degree right-hander JT
04:51Let's have another look at what happened to Austin
04:59Yeah, he's gonna come out triple and then as he doubles he scrubs he gets a little sideways on the takeoff ramp of that triple
05:08lands on the
05:10Side of the track right on the markers of the tongue block goes sideways that could have been a lot worse and then there's the
05:15Pass calling park goes to the inside tries to make some move makes contact
05:22JT
05:23But just noticing Austin Forkner there when he got up
05:26He's using this innovative alpine stars inflatable chest protector and you saw it inflate there
05:31And I had an opportunity to test that in Tampa. It does save him
05:35But I'm just wondering how he will be able to ride with that inflated the rest of this race
05:39You just see it you can see it inflated on the back of him
05:41They're probably saved them, but it can't be much fun to try to finish this qualifier
05:45Yeah, I was wondering the same thing to JT and I thought that I had saw saw I thought that I saw that
05:51It looks like it's not hitting
05:53It's running much still running fifth number plate flies off chance timers
05:57Meanwhile, he's able to stabilize that lead over RJ Hampshire, but I watch
06:03When I watch Austin Forkner right there Lee just the intensity that he has compared to the last several weeks looks like it's
06:11Elevated several notches up and that's great to see maybe getting some confidence in himself in the bike
06:20There's a great view of the tails away through the whoops and the challenge these guys face each and every lap not once but twice
06:28You can see the difference in riding styles between RJ Hampshire
06:34And hi miss
06:36And where their body position is on the motorcycle going through the whoops where I miss is a little more neutral whereas
06:44RJ gets a little further back on the bike
06:46The difference is there when you get a little too far back you run out of leverage and when something goes wrong
06:53Whereas opposed to where you're doing more neutral on the bike in case something goes wrong
06:58You have more more leverage to work with which can be a help
07:01Well, look at this RJ Hampshire had a big lunge on the inside white flag is out final lap coming up
07:07Now if chance timers can win this heat he'll repeat what he did in foxborough
07:11And that was a really good night because he won the heat and then won the main well
07:16He won the main and this was a guy who basically just gave up on his chances to win the
07:22Divisional supercross championship and then he goes out like you said he wins foxborough and he's like well i'm back in this thing
07:28So he has to switch gears mentally which is tough to do oh
07:33See RJ comes up a little short on that triple going into the
07:37corner this is a great battle
07:41These 90 degree corners can be a lot of fun to watch later on today at main event time
07:46You hear the crowd roar because they know that RJ Hampshire the 250 west division champion of last year
07:53And the co-points leader this year here on the east he's not done with yet chance timers gets the victory
08:00That was an incredible battle great riding by both competitors
08:05Jaime's blocking that inside before the finish line
08:09The teenager from idaho gets it done
08:13Now can he repeat the form that he had in
