00:00like your meals do you enjoy what you got yesterday it's not fair my being victimized
00:08because the work release was cancelled that wasn't my fault i don't give a damn about that
00:15all i want is the money you owe me and if i don't get it you're gonna be sorry real sorry
00:21well then i'd better give you what i owe you hadn't i
00:30she as good as condoned the fact that the inmates were using the work release program
00:43for their own means all because she was personally involved with reynolds now i could
00:46swallow it swallow it i said swallow it swallow it how disgusting on your feet
00:56well it didn't take you long to show your true colors did it i wanted her to taste it first
01:02just in case she tried to poison me again i should have poisoned you when i had the chance on your
01:07way gaffney welcher and i want that cleaned up by the time i get back
01:12that was pretty stupid white what was i supposed to do i reported it once and nothing was done about
01:22it i didn't want it to poison me again well what's wrong with it this time nothing except i wouldn't
01:28feed it to a dog you're in enough trouble as it is white i wouldn't make it any worse for yourself
01:33especially not with the other women
01:35just didn't feel like eating that slop that's all but you didn't even have any breakfast door
01:44and that mince was the best we had for ages there wasn't even any whistle the smell was enough to
01:50turn anyone off listen honey if you're not feeling okay you should report to the sick bay
01:54look i've put on some of that weight i took off okay
01:57brant report to me in an hour i've got a job for you
02:00how nice to be needed don't push me brant or you could find yourself back in isolation
02:05and why aren't you on kitchen duty oh it's just on me way miss bennett well you've got a strange
02:10sense of direction how'd you get on with you now with your you know what the next time i get a
02:15minute alone with you she's gonna cop it so help me you should be grateful there won't be a next
02:19time gaffney you didn't do too well this time she owes me owes you what she owes all of us
02:26for snitching and getting us taken off the factory scheme how else have the governor found out about it
02:32come in you wanted to see me yes meg please sit down
02:46i feel i owe you an explanation for last night
02:53not necessarily thank you for that but i must hear myself say it or i'll begin to believe the lie too
03:00for the past few days i seem to have done nothing but deny that and when i have been having a
03:07relationship when you have to lie to protect your career and your position it doesn't say much for
03:14either it certainly doesn't say much for me erica you're entitled to your privacy not when it starts
03:22to interfere with decisions that affect others and that's what happened i'm only human or at least
03:29that was what i was beginning to think no of course i had no idea that andrew was involving
03:36the women in anything underhand we both wanted the project to be a success when i found out what
03:43was happening he promised it wouldn't happen again so i decided to let the women continue working
03:49there under that proviso then kay white was arrested and someone reported the whole incident to the
03:56department it actually was andrew who suggested i call off the project and with the police investigating
04:06the embezzlement and his company going bankrupt there was very little else i could do
04:12come in there's been some trouble in isolation mrs davidson between gagging and white there's nothing
04:19serious but i thought you should know about it well how did that happen i thought she was being watched
04:23yes well miss bennett and i were talking at the time i see well white is not to be left alone with
04:31anyone and if the staff wish to talk i suggest they do that in the staff room mrs davidson the women
04:38will do anything to get at white no matter how carefully they're watched then we'll have to give
04:42them something else to think about won't we oh come on door was all i could lay me hands on and i did
04:50make it myself i don't want it lizzie but you've got to get something into you and kev loves you the
04:57way you are will you leave me alone seems a pity to waste it oh who's gonna waste it
05:07oh so you decided to start a one-man band did you margo she owed me dough i just wanted to collect
05:17that's all well i warned you right from the start about starting off a book now what you've done is
05:22got to botch it off for the rest of us the screw's gonna be watching her like hawks can't you ever
05:26forget about getting even for once look you're the ones that made the deal with reynolds right
05:31and you're the ones who knew that the work release would get stopped if you got caught so why blame k
05:35because she lagged to draw attention away from the fact that she was ripping reynolds off
05:40you don't know that for sure what's your stake in this
05:44well when i was gonna make a run for it she she got me a dress she tried to help me that's all
05:50well you can bet there was a reason for that too don't you worry but if you feel you owe her well
05:54that is your problem just stay out of our way now we're not gonna be able to get her while she's
06:01in isolation which leads us with the problem of getting her out of there oh sure break around i
06:07suppose we've done harder things
06:10i told you to clean that up with what you're very good at thinking for yourself on the outside
06:26surely 24 hours in here can't have changed that
06:29you've missed some
06:42ever since you arrived you've been in isolation
06:48yet gaffney seems to think you owe her money
06:51perhaps there was more going on at the factory than the governor was aware of
06:55get a move on brant
06:59well
07:09well what
07:11i don't know what you're talking about oh let go of me don't you ever lay a hand on an officer
07:18again i want to see the social worker please you saw her this morning i need to see her again
07:25what for she got a solicitor for me he suggested i see a psychiatrist i want her to arrange it
07:32at least you admit you need help i don't admit anything but it's not helping being in here
07:37it's for your own protection you stay in here you hear you stay in isolation you stay here no
07:42matter what get moving brant
07:43you have been warned on several occasions that any abuse of this work release would end in its
07:58cancellation now some of you seem to think that k white is largely responsible
08:03in case i didn't make myself clear before i acted on a report given to me by one of the officers
08:12any further persecution of this woman will stop as of now
08:18she has already been placed under unnecessary pressure by some of you
08:22and i assure you it will achieve nothing
08:25i know how important this program was to you
08:29it meant a great deal to all of us however any further rehabilitation programs will be kept within
08:38the prison
08:38what rehabilitation progress mrs davidson's been more than fair smith as far as she's concerned
08:50the matter is forgotten and from now on there'll be more variation in routine
08:54oh i suppose we're up at five o'clock now instead of six do we it may interest you to know that h block
09:00is having a barbecue this evening now if it's a success it could become a once a week event and the
09:06rest of the prison will be included but it's entirely up to you mrs jackson can i lie down for a bit i'm
09:11feeling a bit crook have you been to dispensary i'm just tired you know run down come along with me
09:16you see old davo's okay she's gonna give us a barbecue yeah i wonder why keep us happy little
09:25vegemites and we'll be all love and forgiveness oh for crying out loud don't you ever let up i am
09:30just up buying what davo has to sell that's all now look what she said about pressuring k
09:36she's right you push that girl too far and she's going to go right over the edge
09:40yeah no you're probably right jude we should forget what happened you don't mean that no i mean
09:49really why don't we just extend the hand of friendship and i reckon you should make the offer
09:55well all right but only if you promise me that you'll give her a good chance at clearing her name
10:02otherwise no deal yeah sure
10:05you'll have to wait until the morning oh isn't there someone else look one more day is not going
10:19to make any difference mrs davidson wait here
10:23miss forster's gone home for the day oh is it anything important white says she wants to see a
10:32psychiatrist although it could be just a trick to help her at her trial as a matter of fact dr
10:37weissmill will be here this afternoon anyway what about miss forster surely you can't ignore all
10:41this ever since she's come here she's done nothing but sip cups of tea she's inefficient and she hasn't
10:47locked the door to her office well i'll speak to her tomorrow oh by the way i've arranged for some
10:51of the women to have a barbecue this evening weather permitting i don't think a little relaxation
10:55will do them any harm at this stage but they've broken every rule in the book in case you haven't
10:59noticed there's a lot of ill feeling at the moment i'm trying to avoid a situation getting
11:05completely out of hand yes i suppose you can't really afford any more trouble with the department
11:11thank you for your support miss bennett
11:14come in bright to see you mrs davidson stand there brian um the women took a vote on who should
11:27speak to you on their behalf i won oh they usually leave that to smith oh yeah well they probably
11:33thought you'd only listen to someone who wasn't on the work duty when it got stopped all right i'm
11:37listening well we've been chewing over what you'd said to us and um we think we probably were a bit
11:42hasty and blaming k you know it's just hard for them to face the facts i guess they're thinking
11:48they blew it themselves yes go on well we were hoping that um you might give us another chance
11:55to square things with k you know if that's all right show that everything's okay we um hoped you
12:01might let her go along to the barbecue uh well it's better than being stuck in isolation all day isn't
12:06it i ought to know that i just came from there oh thank you brian i'll think about it thank you
12:12uh mr fletcher wait outside brian what do you think well i don't know they could be genuine
12:21i'm just wondering why smith couldn't tell me that herself she probably wouldn't like to admit that
12:25she made a mistake then the other women look up to brian hmm they probably wouldn't harm her while
12:30the other officers are there and it could be a good opportunity to see just how genuine they are
12:35of course i never did believe in them psychiatric blokes door went to one once fat lot of good it did
12:43her spent two weeks in a funny farm i reckon if you can't sort yourself out well who's gonna help you
12:49what do you reckon mr fletcher what i mean you had a problem once remember you couldn't stand the
12:57side of blood but he got over it all by himself just get on with your work will you birdsworth
13:02lizzie there'll be an extra one for tea have you got enough to go around oh plenty well does that mean
13:09that kay's gonna be joining us yes that's right oh beautiful in the market yeah poor little might
13:16we got such a lot to make up to her for haven't we margot i hope mrs davidson knows what she's doing
13:22well she can't keep white in isolation forever jude must have laid it on thick which is what i'm gonna
13:31do when i get my hands on that little mole you heard b nobody's to do nothing until she says
13:37can we take a break for a while yeah thanks i could use one
13:52sorry mrs jackson all right clean it up
14:03all right all right i heard you the first time you don't want to hurt me
14:22give it a risk anyway what's that what's that gonna prove so i'm just showing the screws they
14:27can never take our word for anything again listen all that's gonna happen at the barbecue is that
14:31she's gonna be greeted like a long lost sister anyone would think we was getting a visit from the
14:36queen we even had to make out we were putting down the red carpet yeah well let's not go overboard
14:41just nice and friendly will do you all right door i'm trying to sleep oh come on love you better put
14:51on something warm in case it turns cold i'm not going all right doreen enough's enough you are
14:58going to eat if i have to force down your throat i feel sick listen you stupid little idiot i'm not
15:03having you starving and winding up with a tube in your arm yeah b's right you know anyway what's wrong
15:08with a few pounds eh you don't want to end up looking like a scarecrow like me do look it's not
15:13putting on a few pounds it's worrying me i'm bloody scared to death because i'm pregnant
15:18then why are you looking at his throat's being cut oh that's fantastic honey oh you gotta be your
15:27mother oh why don't you tell us for god's sake everyone gets morning sickness yeah and that
15:34doesn't last no one more reason why you have to keep up your strength hey that day out with kev
15:39i sure did the trick no no it's not kevin's it can't be it isn't his
15:47of course i'm sure i've been pregnant before i know what it's like i've checked the dates
16:02and it can't be kevin's it's got to be that vince talbot creeps bastard wish i'd kill him when i had
16:09the chance what am i gonna do kevin and me want to have our own kids how can i tell him i've got
16:16someone else's inside of me the rotten mungle it's not your fault love he forced you into it nobody's
16:23gonna blame you but he had said something the first time he tried it how could i he would have
16:28stopped the work release and none of you were around to help me judy was there
16:32not in the storeroom she wasn't not when he oh i was too scared okay there's no point going over
16:38all that it's too late now yeah well i know what i'd like to do to him just one minute along with
16:42that guy that's all i'd need yeah we're not gonna get that chance now though are we thanks to your
16:47friend k why now why blame k it's vince talbot we should be tearing to pieces we could report him we
16:54could get him stuck into jail oh sure they're gonna listen to a pack of criminals aren't they the same
16:59way that they listen to us telling them who killed sharon i don't want anyone else to know
17:04please be i promise you this much doreen no man is gonna get away with what he did to you
17:11what good does it do to go into my background i've already told you i come from a boring middle
17:25class family with not so much as a parking ticket between the lot of them it's now we ought to be
17:29talking about look do you think i would have taken that money back if i was a criminal i take it you
17:35saw it as a loan i had a winner i knew it i could feel it you don't turn your back on that sort of
17:44feeling what would have happened if if it hadn't won i just told you i knew it was a winner yes but
17:56you were juggling the books at the factory for some time prior to that didn't you see that as a crime
18:02no i never intended keeping the money look all i needed was one good win i was close i could feel
18:10it just one to come home at say 20 to 1 with 5 000 riding on it i'd have had it made in what way
18:18wealth or pay back your gambling debts i'd have won
18:23is there a history of gambling in your family no my father was a bank manager you know how tight
18:32they are with money the biggest bet he ever had was 50 cents each way on the melbourne cup
18:37do you think he was overly careful with his money no they were always giving me presents especially if
18:42i did well at school and i did the more successful i was the more they boasted well wasn't that a worry
18:50to you you know trying to live up to a certain standard of course not i loved it the best at
18:56everything there's no feeling quite like it you must have had a lot of friends
19:01people looked up to me
19:05ever played the poker machines oh once or twice
19:17you put a little money in and it pays out well just just a little at first but you're hooked
19:26then you put some more money in and it doesn't pay out and then it's between you and that machine
19:35you've got to beat it get that jackpot then you're a winner
19:39what happens if you do win the jackpot carry or or your horse comes in do you think you could stop
19:47once you win there's nowhere else to go
19:54oh you could always go on trying to win you know break the bank
20:00i could stop i could do anything if i wanted to
20:03but that's what you're here for isn't it to help me
20:07well i've got as many doubts about this barbecue as you do vera but at least we should see if the
20:18idea works before we knock it on the head you know why she's doing this she's panicking because
20:22she knows if there's one more incident they'll see how incompetent she really is
20:26so what is she doing she's pandering to the prisoners to keep them quiet and they'll use her
20:31don't you worry about that which will make our job that much harder vera if i hear one more word
20:36against mrs davidson so help me i might just put in a report of my own you must see what's
20:40happening wentworth is getting slacker by the minute all i see is a woman under a lot of strain
20:44trying to do a good job and getting absolutely no support from some of the senior members of
20:48her staff she is under no more strain than we are unless of course you're talking about personal
20:52pressures well you two knock it off i'm getting sick and tired of the infighting that's going on
20:57around this place as senior members of staff we have a right to express doubts about certain
21:03decisions that are made but i agree with you it should be done out in the open and not behind
21:08anybody's back my woman can't discuss things calmly is beyond me now if you two ladies will excuse me
21:16i've got work to do he should be working in a men's prison he hasn't got the first idea about women
21:21dr wiseman should be finished with white by now i better go and get her
21:25come and get it
21:31i really starved to death here i think
21:35just don't want to treat her like any other newcomer mind you an apology or two wouldn't go
21:39astray seeing as how we've done it wrong but no grudges no nothing i want her out of isolation
21:45you want better
21:57mmm tastes real good good idea love i'm gonna eat
22:01shame it was raining it would have been good to have the barbie outside
22:05you could self-lucky old day if i let us have it at all
22:07you know lizzie margot good day love i'm glad they let you out even if it's only for tea
22:16i reckon we got you to thank for all this
22:18reckon we got off on the wrong foot no hard feelings huh
22:22all right
22:23hi welcome to the indoor barbie doll
22:31i read in the papers about how you got caught
22:35yeah well i wouldn't if i hadn't tried to give the money back
22:38some people got no gratitude
22:40so far so good
22:44a little bit too friendly if you ask me
22:47you should feel right at home here
22:49just move from one factory to the next
22:51what happened
23:03a hamburger
23:04pick it up birdsworth
23:06miss bellett has taken a two dispensary
23:16i don't think it's too bad
23:17it seems i misjudged you bryant
23:23i shall certainly think twice before taking your word for anything again
23:28i swear to you that none of us knew there was anything in that mrs davidson
23:31you two were responsible for preparing the meal
23:38the last time i was accused of putting something in me cooking i got twenty years
23:43i was innocent then too
23:45gaffney broke a glass when i was in the kitchen mrs davidson
23:49must have fallen in accidentally
23:52you will be confined to yourself for 24 hours
24:00but i
24:00be quiet
24:01as you are all obviously responsible
24:06you can tell the others there will be no more barbecues
24:10and that is final
24:12you may go
24:14wait in the corridor
24:17i take it white will have to stay in isolation
24:25no matter what i decide it always seems to be the wrong decision
24:30look why don't you go home early
24:32you look very tired
24:33i have too much work to do
24:34you can wait
24:35i'm not seeing andrew again
24:39i had to make a decision
24:42another decision
24:45this must be quite a blow to your pride
24:48one minute they think you're so important
24:51the next minute they turn on you
24:53then you're not much use to them anymore are you
24:56it was fun while it lasted
24:58you think you're so smart white
25:00but what's so clever about joining forces with a bunch of criminals
25:03or is it just a game to you
25:04actually you're right
25:06it wasn't that much fun
25:07you see it was so easy to con you
25:09there's no sport involved when you're dealing with officers with an average iq of below zero
25:14this letter arrived for white at the front gate
25:21she may as well have it now
25:22i've already censored it
25:23thank you
25:24you got a letter
25:33regulations state that all mail must be censored by an officer
25:37it's from the foreman at the factory
25:41talbot
25:42very interesting
25:44he says you owe him 250 dollars
25:47you must have made quite a group
25:50you embezzling the company
25:51reynolds fraudulent behavior
25:53and talbot
25:54this letter speaks for itself
25:57he's a pig
25:59mrs davidson's usually very good at assessing people
26:01i'm amazed she wasn't onto the type she was dealing with sooner
26:04you were reynolds assistant
26:07was he just out to use mrs davidson's position
26:10or didn't she care
26:12i'll tell you something that'll really interest you miss bennett
26:15i wouldn't give you the time of day if you begged for it
26:19you owe that man nothing
26:21he was the one that got you arrested
26:22now don't get me wrong
26:24i can't stand him
26:25but you
26:26you're the vilest thing i've ever met
26:29i can't stand him
26:37but you can tell me
26:38it'll change
26:40the train
26:49I'm not making any promises, Erica, but I don't want our relationship to be just a business association.
27:19I want to get to know you, be with you, and I don't want to run or hide from something that I haven't felt in years.
27:35Neither do I.
27:40My work is my whole life. I couldn't be happy without it.
27:49Godfather.
28:01Wow.
28:06Wow.
28:12Wow.
28:13Wow.
28:14Hey, Doreen, you all right, love?
28:26Yeah.
28:29Here.
28:32Thanks, Bea.
28:34Let me do that.
28:44I hate it, Bea.
28:47I hate knowing that what's inside of me is that man's.
28:50It's half yours too, love.
28:52Yeah.
28:53I keep trying to pretend that it's all mine.
28:56But I keep seeing Talbot.
28:58And it should be Kevin's.
28:59Hey, what's up?
29:01Nothing, Lizzie.
29:02Get back to sleep.
29:06Come.
29:07I keep going over it and over it, you know?
29:10And I reckon that I could probably tell Kevin that it's his.
29:13And, well, after it's born...
29:14Well, what good would that do if you're going to hate it so much?
29:16Look, there's nothing worse than having a kid you don't want, Doreen.
29:20If you decide to go through with this, you've got to love it.
29:24While it's in you.
29:25And when it's born.
29:27You're not going to fool Kevin.
29:29And you're just going to make a little kid's life a misery.
29:32Are you telling her to get rid of it?
29:33I'm trying to help her face facts, Lizzie.
29:35And lying is not going to help anyone.
29:39Oh.
29:40You've always loved kids, Dore.
29:42Well, they took away your first one.
29:45You're not going to lose your second one.
29:48You'll learn to love her, you see.
29:51And it doesn't matter whose it is.
29:53It does if she can't cope with it.
29:56Look, Dore's young.
29:59Got a whole tribe of kids ahead of you.
30:01Ones you and Kevin want.
30:03Well, what would you do if you was me, Bea?
30:05I'm not you, love.
30:09I'm never going to be able to have any more kids.
30:12So if I could, it wouldn't matter who the father was.
30:18I keep trying to forget what he did to me, you know.
30:21And I was doing real good, too.
30:23But this, this is going to keep reminding me of him.
30:29Can I see Dr. Weissner again today, please?
30:57He's not due back for a couple of days.
30:59But if you wish to see him sooner...
31:00If you ask me, they should all see him.
31:01They're all killers and you're not doing a thing to stop them.
31:04Gaffney's been punished for what she did.
31:05And as far as we can tell, no one else had anything to do with what happened yesterday.
31:09Oh, I had nothing to do with their stupid work release being cancelled.
31:13I'm going mad in here.
31:14It's only a temporary precaution.
31:16Look, we're allowed a phone call a week, aren't we?
31:19Yes.
31:19Who do you want to call?
31:20Vince Talbot.
31:21He's the foreman at the...
31:21I know him.
31:22You can call him after breakfast.
31:24Hurry up, Brian.
31:29You know, Sam, while you're talking to that son of a bitch,
31:31you can give him a message from me.
31:32We're going to get him, no matter how long it takes.
31:34Brian!
31:35Come in.
31:46Kay White wants to see you.
31:47She says it's important.
31:48All right, bring her in.
31:50What?
31:52If I don't get out of isolation today,
31:53I'm going to tell my solicitor you're treating me unfairly.
31:56Don't you ever come into my office making demands like that again, do you hear me?
32:00You are in there, White, for your own protection,
32:02and you will stay there until I think it's safe for you to mix with the others.
32:05Oh, they're not going to hurt me anymore.
32:07You've certainly changed your tune since this morning.
32:09It was something Judy mentioned.
32:11Look, I know they've forgotten all about me.
32:13Give me five minutes alone with them and I'll prove it to you.
32:16Well, if I believe them, why don't you?
32:17Because whilst you are in here, you are our responsibility.
32:20Then you are responsible for driving me insane by keeping me locked up in isolation.
32:24Wait outside.
32:27Hello, dear.
32:28I believe you wanted to see me.
32:30Yes, a little bit later on, if that's all right.
32:31Of course, any time.
32:33My door is always open.
32:36Now, what did you want to see me about, dear?
32:39One minute, please, Miss Forster.
32:41I don't like keeping her in there, but I still have my doubts.
32:45Well, it might do her more harm being confined.
32:47We can still keep an eye on her.
32:48A girl like that needs company.
32:50Someone to talk to.
32:53All right, Mrs Jackson.
32:55She seems to trust Brian.
32:56She can move in with her.
32:57Well, I'm glad we sort of draw that out.
33:03Miss Forster, I've noticed you haven't been spending very much time in the prison.
33:07Oh, as much as is necessary, dear.
33:09I don't see any point in sticking around a stuffy old office all day when there's nothing much to do.
33:14Well, I have found, as I am sure you have, that quite a lot of the women are rather reticent in seeking help.
33:21Perhaps if you went through their files, you could talk to them about their problems.
33:25Oh, I'm always there to listen, I assure you.
33:28Not always.
33:29I hope you're not questioning my work.
33:32I know you have a very good reputation to live up to.
33:36One of the best.
33:37And as you only have one more year to go before retirement, it would be a pity to spoil it.
33:55Thanks, Mrs Jackson.
33:57I'll be all right.
33:58A word of advice.
33:59If there are any more incidents involving injury to White, no matter how accidental, you will all be held responsible.
34:06Why, you got us all wrong, Mrs J.
34:08That was Margot's fight.
34:10Had nothing to do with us.
34:11We'll take care of her.
34:13She'll be moving in with you, Judy.
34:14I'll leave it to you to see she stays out of trouble.
34:25Either you are very stupid or you like to live dangerous.
34:29Look, I helped you all at the factory, didn't I?
34:31And now I think I can help you again.
34:33I wouldn't trust you if you were on your deathbed.
34:34You've taken a sudden dislike to Vince Talbot.
34:37Why, what's he done?
34:38It's none of your business.
34:39Yeah.
34:39We hear you and him are good friends.
34:41No, no, you got it all wrong.
34:42I can't stand him any more than you can, which is where I think I can help.
34:45I'll make a deal with you.
34:56You let me go my own way, and I'll hand you Talbot on a silver platter.
35:00Ladies, we are going to get our souls out, bastard.
35:11Who is it?
35:28Mrs. Jackson's given White permission to use the phone.
35:33Oh.
35:34You go right ahead, dear.
35:38Thank you, Miss Bennett.
35:40I'm quite capable of supervising, and I'm sure you're terribly busy at the moment.
35:44Anything wrong, dear?
35:51A man I have to ring.
35:53He makes me nervous.
35:55What man?
35:57I owe him some money.
35:59He's threatened to testify against me in court if I don't pay him.
36:02But that extortion.
36:03He should be reported to the police.
36:05Oh, he'd only deny it.
36:06No, I've got to try and convince him to wait until I can earn some money.
36:10Miss Forster, I wonder if I could ask you a favour.
36:14That's what I'm here for, to help at any time.
36:17Now, what can I do for you?
36:20Well, I want to see this man, but not in front of an officer.
36:25Hmm.
36:26It would be much better if I could see him in here with you.
36:31Leave everything to me.
36:32I'll arrange it.
36:34Oh, thank you.
36:37What happened about this in chat with Dr. Weissman?
36:41Yes, yes, that's him.
36:43Oh, what happened?
36:44It was only my first session.
36:48In my day, of course, we didn't have such a thing.
36:51Because I'm a great believer in a good heart-to-heart, a bit of genuine caring, and you can sort out most of your troubles.
36:57Well, my solicitor thought it would help that my...
37:00...help me if I accepted treatment.
37:03Well, then, you're halfway there.
37:06Oh, hello.
37:07May I speak to Vince Talbot, please?
37:10Well, can you find him?
37:10It's urgent.
37:11You're in Reynolds' office.
37:19Talbot speaking.
37:23Look, there's nothing to talk about.
37:25Either you pay me that $2.50, or else I'll get on that stand and I'll tear you to ribbons.
37:30Please, Vince.
37:30I promise I'll get you the money, but you'll have to come and see me this afternoon.
37:35I just can't take time off like that.
37:38Well, you won't get the money, then.
37:42That's right.
37:443.30 will be fine.
37:45It's bad enough we're in here, but it doesn't end there.
37:54Oh, no.
37:55I mean, when we're let out, we're persecuted, we're terrorised.
37:58Look what happened to Doreen.
38:00She's let out in a work release programme.
38:02Big deal.
38:03They're doing us a favour.
38:04And what happens?
38:05She gets raped.
38:06And you know why she gets raped?
38:08Yeah.
38:09Because if she didn't go along with what Talbot said, he would have stopped the work release.
38:13Oh, it was all good clean fun, wasn't it?
38:14After all, all she was was a woman prisoner.
38:17Yeah, exactly.
38:19But you tried getting back him at the factory, B.
38:21There wasn't enough time to teach him a real lesson.
38:23Yeah, well, by the time we've finished with him, he won't be able to look at another woman.
38:27No point.
38:30Bad news?
38:40Yeah, little Jase is going to have her operation soon.
38:43Probably at the end of this week.
38:45Ellen's been too flat out organising doctors and stuff to come over here and tell me.
38:50Don't worry, love.
38:51They'll be all right.
38:52Yeah.
39:01Well?
39:013.30, like you wanted.
39:06This is going to be the first exercise period I've enjoyed for some time.
39:09Oh, come on, Phil.
39:21Put some life in it.
39:22You're as slow as a wet week.
39:24I'm saving me strength for the game.
39:31I've got to see her before the operation door just for a couple of hours.
39:37That's all.
39:38Well, why don't you ask that new social worker to arrange it?
39:41Because Mr. Reid used to do that for us.
39:42And what Kay reckons, I might as well wrangle a holiday on surface paradise.
39:48Don't give the game away.
40:01Make you feel welcome, for God's sake.
40:02Hiya, handsome.
40:04How you going?
40:05Woo-hoo!
40:07Oh, Baba!
40:10You'll be sorry you set foot in here, Talbot.
40:13Woo-hoo!
40:15See you later, love!
40:17Well, if it wasn't for Miss Forster's help here, I wouldn't even have a solicitor.
40:25You told me you were going to pay me now.
40:27Oh, I know.
40:28I had to tell you that so you'd come.
40:29You wouldn't let me explain over the phone.
40:31But look, after my trial, I'll get a job, and I'll have the money to you within a couple of weeks.
40:38You're a liar.
40:40Will you keep a civil tongue in your head, Mr. Talbot?
40:42Vince, please.
40:44I am sick, but I'm getting treatment.
40:46And when I'm better...
40:47Sick be damned.
40:48You're a thief.
40:48That's what you are.
40:49I won't tell you again, Mr. Talbot.
40:51You're not getting away with this.
40:52I'm warning you.
40:53If I don't clap eyes on that 250 bucks before your trial, I'll see to it that your name is mud.
41:00I'm glad you said that in front of me, Mr. Talbot.
41:04I'm sure the police would be more than interested to learn that you threatened to slant your testimony for money.
41:10Now, they mightn't take Kay's word for it, but they'll certainly take mine.
41:14The police dare to say, to him, USB helps you out of the sand.
41:16Oh, God, it's a fool, it's a fool.
41:17We're going!
41:18Oh, God.
41:19Oh, God.
41:19Oh.
41:20Marble disagreed.
41:20Oh, God, boo.
41:20Whoa, God.
41:21Lee!
41:21That's a fool.
41:23Come on.
41:27Come on.
41:28Marble.
41:30You made a good one, fellas.
41:58Last one to get at my bed for a week.
42:00My ear, you think you are a jerk?
42:05Will you break that up?
42:07God!
42:10I can't do that!
42:11Don't raise me!
42:17Ah!
42:19I can't do that.
42:21Ah!
42:27You say you just fell over.
42:39Otherwise, you're going to find yourself inside for rape.
42:43Get out!
42:44Let's go!
42:48What on earth?
42:51Miss Meadows?
42:53Could you get this lot inside?
42:57It's all right.
43:00Smith!
43:01Come on!
43:15What good's it do in asking me?
43:17The bloke's walking along, mining his own business,
43:19and all of a sudden he gets flattened by a pack of women.
43:21What are you running? You're a madhouse!
43:22Prior to your attack, I was informed by Miss Forster
43:25that you threatened one of the inmates, Kay White.
43:29What's that got to do with me almost getting murdered?
43:31I am trying to establish a reason for the assault.
43:34The women claim you were accidentally knocked over during a game of volleyball.
43:38Oh, come on.
43:40You were there. She didn't believe me.
43:41You tell her what happened.
43:43Officer Meadows and I were trying to break up a fight amongst some of the women.
43:46I did see Mr Talbot on the ground, but I didn't see anyone hit him.
43:51Oh, bloody hell.
43:52Mr Talbot, if what you say is true, I will punish the women involved.
43:57For instance, can you think of any reason why this should happen?
44:02Was there anything you said or did whilst they were working at the factory?
44:07Isn't my word good enough for you?
44:09When an accusation like this is made, I have to have proof, or at least a motive.
44:13All right, look, look, forget it. It was just an accident.
44:16I tripped and fell over. Is that okay?
44:18Is that keeping your precious record straight?
44:20I am just trying to find out.
44:22Look, forget it!
44:23Then I suggest you don't visit Wentworth again.
44:26Oh, lady, it'll be a pleasure.
44:29For some reason, Mr Talbot decided not to press charges.
44:33However, I am not at all convinced that it was an accident.
44:39Should I ever discover that the incident was deliberate and premeditated, suitable punishment
44:46will be arranged.
44:47One day, you might not be quite so lucky.
44:58Excuse me, Mrs Jetson.
45:00Can I go and see Miss Foster for a minute?
45:02It's very urgent.
45:04All right, Lizzie, but it's Miss Foster.
45:06I'm always getting me peas and bros mixed up.
45:10I'm surprised you're in such good humour.
45:12Well, maybe you find something else amusing?
45:17We did it! We did it!
45:18Yeah, here's to good old justice.
45:20So long as the governor doesn't find out.
45:23And who's going to lag, hmm?
45:26No one.
45:28But as I see it, I did the groundwork.
45:31I thought up the idea.
45:33Therefore, I should be paid for services rendered.
45:36You were paid when we said we'd lay off you.
45:39No.
45:40That's not good enough.
45:41Oh, yes, it is, sweetie.
45:43So just shut up before I change my mind.
45:47I reckon anyone who loves animals must be a real decent sort.
45:59I couldn't agree with you more, Elizabeth.
46:01I had a cat once and a dog.
46:04But one dropped dead on me and the other one got taken away.
46:07Oh, how dreadful for you.
46:08Yeah, everything that I've ever loved is always something happened to it.
46:12Oh, it's tragic when one loses an animal.
46:15They're like one of the family.
46:17True.
46:18You never know what's just around the corner.
46:21Take my little granddaughter, for instance.
46:23One minute, right as rain, and the next...
46:26Just when she needed me most, I'm not there.
46:29Elizabeth, you leave everything to me.
46:32I'll make sure you see Josie before her operation.
46:34And I'll just take this letter here to get the details.
46:39Oh, I knew you'd sort it out.
46:43You got real heart, Miss Foster.
46:45Foster.
46:46Oh, yeah.
46:48And thanks for the cuppa.
46:50That's what I really miss in this place,
46:52a cup of afternoon tea and a real natter.
46:54Well, Butchie, another job well done.
46:57Now, just one little drink before we go home.
47:04Come on, Butchie.
47:05Butchie, Butchie, Butchie.
47:07Butchie, Butchie.
47:09Oh.
47:09She's well understanding, Dor.
47:22I reckon if you was to talk to her,
47:24she'd tell you what to do.
47:25Them social workers know it all.
47:27The only ones who can decide anything are Doreen and Kevin.
47:30Well, I'm going to tell him the truth, Lizzie.
47:32Oh, it'll be all right.
47:34He's always stuck by you before.
47:36Yeah, Judy doesn't reckon I should, though.
47:37Listen, all I said is that some men are funny about rape.
47:41No, he's a good kid.
47:43Yeah, well, you probably know I'm better than me.
47:45Look, he'll understand.
47:46All I have to say is that I got pregnant because I was raped.
47:49I don't have to go into the details.
47:51Oh, brother.
47:52You've got to expect a few questions, love.
47:56Well, what if he doesn't understand?
48:01What if he leaves me?
48:07I'm sorry, Mrs. Davidson,
48:16but I thought you'd want to hear this immediately.
48:19It's about the attack on Vince Talbot.
48:21It wasn't an accident.
48:22It was deliberate.
48:23He used to give me roses
48:27I wish he could again
48:32But that was on the outside
48:38And things were different then
48:43On the inside, the sun still shines
48:47And the rain falls down
48:53But the sun and rain are Christmas too
48:57When morning comes around
49:02Last night I dreamed we were together
49:07Sharing all the love we'd know
49:12Till I had to face the nightmare
49:18Oh, waking up alone
49:23On the inside, the roses grow
49:27They don't mind the stony ground
49:33But the roses here are Christmas too
49:37When morning comes around
49:42But the roses here are Christmas too
49:45When morning comes around
49:46When morning comes around
