00:00Since Donald Trump took office in January, peace talks between Ukraine and Russia have not gone
00:04well. Now U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned that the U.S. will abandon peace talks on
00:10Ukraine within days, unless progress toward a truce is seen. Telling reporters recently,
00:15quote, we're not going to continue with this endeavor for weeks and months on end. We need
00:19to determine very quickly whether or not this is doable. If it's not going to happen, then we're
00:23just going to move on. Rubio emphasized the U.S. has other priorities if a peace deal is not
00:29imminent. The Trump administration had expressed confidence in reaching a quick ceasefire after
00:33taking office, but efforts have stalled. Russia insists on conditions for a ceasefire, with
00:38Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov calling negotiations quite difficult, but claiming
00:43Russia remains open to dialogue. Ongoing missile attacks by Russia continue, with multiple civilian
00:48deaths after recent airstrikes. The U.S. and Ukraine signed a memorandum of intent to form an economic
00:54partnership, but Ukrainian officials stress that any ceasefire must come with security guarantees.
00:59Meanwhile, the 30-day Russian moratorium on attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure
01:03has just expired.
