00:00WWE branded hypocrite after Nick Khan takes a shot against AEW.
00:04Ah, there's some WrestleMania frustrations.
00:07My review of AEW Dynamite as it surpasses the amount of episodes of WCW Nitro.
00:13I'm Luke Owen and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:18I've said it time and time again, but it's worth repeating, this brand new era of WWE
00:23is way better than the old one.
00:25While Smackdown is hardly must-see television, it's so much far and away better than the
00:30old Regime's version.
00:32And WWE's business reflects all of this, as their numbers are peanuts on the up in all
00:36areas.
00:37Tickets, up.
00:38Merchandise, up.
00:39Sponsorship, up.
00:40Ratings, all up.
00:42But they will always be WWE, and WWE can sometimes be quite petty.
00:49Last year at WrestleMania, Triple H took a shot at Will Ospreay signing with AEW over WWE by
00:54suggesting he ran away from the grind.
00:57And in the days before this year's WrestleMania, Nick Khan has taken his own shot against All
01:02Elite Wrestling, telling the Bill Simmons Podcast,
01:04In terms of the other wrestling promotional company, they have a lot of talented wrestlers.
01:09We're happy about that.
01:11When contractually they are available to be talked to, and have conversations with, assume
01:16a number of them will come over.
01:18There's nothing but respect for the father who finances it and owns the Jaguar and all
01:24those other things.
01:26When Simmons suggests that signing too many names to WWE could result in some of them being
01:31wasted, Khan replied, that's something we won't do.
01:35We won't sign and bench people.
01:37We sign people who we want to use.
01:39If another entity signs and benches people now, that's not something we would do.
01:45Ricochet, who last year left WWE to join AEW, responded to this news story via Twitter saying,
01:51man, these guys effing suck.
01:54And he was not alone, as Nick Khan's comments were made fun of online by a lot of wrestling
01:57fans calling out WWE for their hypocrisy.
02:01Which includes Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp.
02:03Following the comments, SRS posted a story to Fightful Select that he had ready from the
02:07previous week that although fit and healthy and ready to work, we were told that Amos
02:12hadn't been brought up in creative discussions.
02:14This despite WWE bringing Amos back from his excursion in Noah where he was one half of
02:19the tag team champions, which forced Noah to vacate those titles.
02:24Although WWE seemingly had a reason to cut that run short, Amos has not been on TV.
02:30On his weekly podcast The Hump, SRS added that WWE felt they urgently needed to re-sign Natalya
02:36last year to stop her from doing the Owen Hart tournament in AEW, but have done nothing
02:41with her since.
02:42He jokes that he's had to ask people in WWE if Hikaleo is actually signed with the company,
02:48as he reportedly put pen to paper last year, but has not been featured or brought up in
02:51creative plans.
02:52He adds that AOP was signed for months before being put on TV, as there were no creative
02:57for them.
02:58Instead, you've got Alexa Bliss, who's just signed a new deal, parked, chilling.
03:03One member of the Wyatt Six is sidelined.
03:06What about the other five?
03:08But for every Natalya, Alexa and Hikaleo, there's a Jordan Grace, Penta, Ricky Saint and
03:12Ethan Page.
03:14Similarly with AEW, while you could point to Deonna Purrazzo, Jay White and Kazuchika Okada,
03:19you can equally point to Will Ospreay, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, Mercedes Monet, Adam
03:24Copeland, Speak Ball, Mike Bailey and Ricochet.
03:26So what do you make of Nick Khan's comments?
03:29Do you think WWE are being hypocritical?
03:32Let me know in the comments down below.
03:34And we've got some more wrestling news coming your way, but first, here is Turbo Jack to
03:38shout out some very special people.
03:40I made his wrestler Turbo Jack on WrestleMania week.
03:45Turbo Jack remembers what WrestleMania was like back in the day before it got all wonk.
03:50That's why they won't book Turbo Jack these days.
03:53Because Turbo Jack's Turbo Edge.
03:55And it's also why Turbo Jack's had to take the meanin' promo jobs.
03:59Like for Patreon.com forward slash WrestleTalk, where Oli and Luke's complete John Cena vs.

04:24He's a sexy man.
04:26Se-xy-maaannn.
04:28Marlon, you gross man.
04:30Gross.
04:31Maaannn.

04:47Speaking of talent feeling like they might have been benched, Fightful Select also reports
04:51that there are no plans for Chelsea Green to defend her Women's United States Championship
04:56at this weekend's WrestleMania.
04:57While at the same time, the Women's Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria is teaming with Bayley
05:03to fight for the Women's Tag Team Championships.
05:05When asked by a Fightful Select subscriber, why aren't these brand new titles being defended
05:09at Mania, Sean Ross Sapp replied, you wonder, I wonder, and they wonder too, based on what
05:16I've heard.
05:17Last night's AEW Dynamite hit a historic milestone as it passed the amount of episodes
05:23of WCW Nitro, making it the longest running primetime wrestling show on a Turner Network.
05:30Speaking about this on his 83 weeks podcast, the guy behind WCW Nitro, Eric Bischoff, said
05:35I want to congratulate Tony Khan and his entire staff.
05:39This obviously means a lot to them and congratulations.
05:43It does say a lot about Tony's commitment.
05:45Tony puts his own money into this.
05:47You can judge the product, I can judge the product I often have.
05:50I just don't watch it anymore.
05:52But truth is, his vision, his dream, his money, his commitment.
05:56So congratulations, because what he did isn't easy.
05:59No matter how anybody feels about the product, it wasn't easy, and it still isn't.
06:04It doesn't bother me a bit, it just doesn't mean anything to me, while it does to Tony
06:08and company.
06:09Which brings us to my review of AEW Dynamite, aka Spring Breakthrough Edition of AEW Dynamite.
06:14This massive 289th edition of Dynamite opened in spectacular fashion as the dream first-time
06:21singles match between Mercedes-Monet and Athena took place as part of the Owen Hart tournament.
06:25The match was a bit messy in parts, but when it got going, it really got going.
06:30The hot crowd in Boston also covered up some of those cracks, and allowed Monet and Athena
06:34to get something special cooking with counters, reversals, Athena locking in a statement maker
06:39of her own before Monet reversed it into one of her own, a sunset flip powerbomb into the
06:43barricade and Monet blocking the O-Face to get a roll-up win.
06:47A tremendous match overall, and Tony Storm appeared in the crowd to set Monet as the tournament
06:52winner.
06:53But I still feel that's a red herring, and All In Texas will feature a rematch for the
06:59Ring of Honor Women's Championship between Athena and Mercedes-Monet, with Jamie Hayter
07:05winning the cup to face Storm.
07:07Rene Paquette tried to interview Hangman Page, but the Young Bucks walked up to him to say,
07:10you're welcome, for them stopping Swerve winning the title at Duck Dynasty, and asked
07:14him to win the world title and bring it back to them in the Elite.
07:17Hakata called Page a bitch, and Page got right back in his face, making him back down.
07:21A sports lad posed with a sports thing, and Adam Page took on the tournament's wildcard,
07:26the newest signee for AEW, the walking weapon, Josh Alexander.
07:31Alexander was a firm favourite to take this spot, but I thought it'd be someone like Jeff
07:35Jarrett to play off last year's tournament and that short-lived story from this year
07:39where Jarrett said he was going to win the world title.
07:41Remember that?
07:42I also didn't think they'd debut a guy only for him to lose in the first round of a tournament.
07:47But he did just that, as Page beat him with a roll-up, with the commentators putting over
07:51that Page snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
07:55Look, there's nothing wrong with losing your first match if you're put over strong in
07:59it, but I don't think that was quite hit here.
08:01Thankfully they did a really good post-match angle, where Page squared off with his semi-final
08:05opponent Kyle Fletcher, and Don Callis seemingly offered Alexander something, so he got in the
08:10ring to attack Hangman Adam Page, allowing Fletcher to stand tall.
08:14He's not officially in the family, but Callis did say there was a spot open last week.
08:19It's also difficult to know what's going on, as Callis later explained that he spoke
08:22to Alexander in Canadian, and despite being part of the Commonwealth, I don't speak
08:26the language.
08:27So can any of our Canadians in the comments let us know what was said?
08:31Speaking of Canadians, Christian Cage made his return to tell Nick Wayne that he's
08:35got a spot for him in the best of the Super Juniors in New Japan and a Ring of Honor TV
08:39Championship match for the Thursday edition of Collision, and the Hurt Syndicate beat
08:43Gate Tobaccoon to retain their tag team championships.
08:45MJF came out afterwards to offer them watches and women to get a spot in the group, but Shelton,
08:51while warming to Max, still gave him a thumbs down.
08:54While I have been enjoying this story for the most part, MJF offering women to party with
08:59as a present feels like such a… relic of the past.
09:03I was not a fan of this segment.
09:05What I was a fan of, however, was Will Ospreay vs Konosuke Takeshita.
09:09These two had a killer match last year, as well as a superb triple threat, and they had
09:13another absolute banger here.
09:15I can't just keep describing these lads as awesome, so I went to Google to get some synonyms,
09:20and here they are, breathtaking, amazing, astounding, staggering, bonerific, spectacular, phenomenal,
09:26phenomenal, phenomenal, phenomenal, amazeballs, and unbelievable.
09:32That is just what these lads were, and so much more.
09:35And the crowd were alive for it.
09:39And Ospreay had to throw his entire arsenal at Takeshita to put him down, and it shows
09:44what a master will is of making his moves feel special, as this crowd brought each and
09:49every one of them as a finish.
09:52He advances to face either Fletcher or Page.
09:55And the main event saw that Deathriders took on the Ops for the Trios Championship, a match
09:58cursed with injuries.
10:01Last week, Pac picked up an ankle injury in his match with Swerve Strickland, and Hook
10:04was seen by fans vomiting in his tag match.
10:07Some actually feared that he'd suffered a concussion, but the Wrestling Observer is saying
10:11that that is not the case.
10:12However, he was removed from this match, with Jon Moxley replacing Pac, and powerhouse Hobbs
10:18taking the place of Hook.
10:19The match actually started at the top of the second hour, so it wasn't going to get a bunch
10:22of time, and it was chaos from the outset.
10:24Willow Nightingale stopped Moxley using a chair, the Youngbox came out by the taken out
10:28by Swerve Strickland, Shabatta neutralized Claudio on the ramp, Hobbs took out Yuta, Willow
10:32took out Marina Shafir, and Samoa Joe choked out the World Champion to win the Trios Championships.
10:39A fun match with a great ending, and the Babyface locker room came out to celebrate with the
10:44Ops.
10:45A show full of great wrestling, but not so great angles.
10:49But speaking of not great wrestling, our final episode of our Wrestlemania season of worst
10:54match ever concluded with a look at Bret Hart vs Vince McMahon.
11:00Check it out.
