00:00We actually see the big three, Manchester, Gatwick and Heathrow, typically come in the top most popular airport.
00:08But that's really a function of their size and locations and the flights that they offer.
00:14John Lennon Airport comes in at around ninth for our customers.
00:18But we agree that it is an excellent airport in terms of the experience that you have when you're there.
00:23A spokesman for which said the best airports in the UK have one thing in common.
00:28They're all pretty small, while Liverpool and London City do serve millions of passengers every year.
00:35They're minnows in comparison with Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Luton and Stansted.
00:41Well, typically what makes an airport popular might include the range of choice they have in terms of the carriers,
00:48the flight carriers that they have, the destinations that those flights go to, the price of flights.
00:55So often flights can be a deciding factor when someone chooses where to fly from.
01:00However, the things that UK holidaymakers are really looking for from an airport is convenience.
01:06So how easy is it to get to? Is the parking easy when you get there?
01:10What's the experience like for checking in and getting through security?
01:14Is there an option to speed that up by going through fast track, for example?
01:18And what's the food and beverage offer?
01:20Are there places to sit down where you can eat or drink?
01:22Are there airport lounges where you can get into the holiday spirit early?
01:27Those are all factors in how you feel about your holiday and getting off to a holiday start early.
01:33And that's what the UK traveller, I think, is really looking for when they choose an airport.
01:37And airport costs include the flight itself.
01:41And that can be a factor of demand.
01:43So if there's an airport or a flight service that's particularly popular, that demand can drive the price up.
01:49Competition can also have a factor.
01:51So if there's lots of competition, you might find price reductions as people compete for market share.
01:57And of course, for different airports, they charge different handling fees, passenger fees, passenger taxes.
02:03And so that all goes into the cost of your flight.
02:08But that's not the total cost of a holiday.
02:09So what's important to note is that regional airports can often provide cheaper services, less expensive parking or less expensive airport lounges, for example.
02:19So when you're thinking about your whole holiday, you've got to think about your flights, your hotel and all of the holiday extras that really make up the full booking price.
