00:00As you were watching the drama unfold on the back nine at a Sunday at the Masters,
00:05Rory with inexplicable shots and then heroic moments.
00:08What were you feeling?
00:10What were you experiencing?
00:12I felt like I was in the old tumble dry.
00:15For anyone who may have missed it,
00:17Rory McIlroy had a four-shot lead as they started the back nine,
00:21and then suddenly it's bogey, double bogey, par, wrap in, another bogey,
00:26and suddenly it's game on.
00:27We saw Justin Rose, who I guess now chalks up a third runner-up at the Masters tournament.
00:34He was right there in the conversation.
00:36But for Rory McIlroy, very impressive with this win,
00:39but also a little concerning of the way that Rory really succumbs to that pressure.
00:45And it's easy for me to sit here and say that,
00:48but it is clear as day for, I guess, the golf extremists
00:52or maybe just the pundit who dials it in for one of the four majors at this point of the season.
00:57But Rory McIlroy really struggles to get out of his own way at times.
01:02He makes the easy shots look really difficult.
01:04But then again, as we saw in 15, when he has to bend a five-iron around the pine straws there,
01:11220 yards and knocks it to 10 feet.
01:13He can make a tough golf course and a tough shot look really comfortable at times.
01:17And for Rory, I think it is, you know, a sign of what we've seen the last five, 10 years.
01:22There was that buildup of scar tissue.
01:24There was so much doubt in the back of his mind.
01:27But ultimately, he found a way to get into that playoff and get it done.
01:31But it was so contrasting within the space for 20 minutes.
01:34You know, Rory just needed a par on the 72nd hole to close it out.
01:38But he's 110 yards out, middle of the fairway, and he just blocks it to put himself in the bunker.
01:45He then misses a four-footer to win the tournament in regulation time.
01:49But then he goes to that playoff hole where I felt like, you know, at that point,
01:52he had to be telling himself that it's house money.
01:55I've already lost the tournament.
01:56I'm playing with a guy that I'm very familiar with in Justin Rose.
01:59And then he dials one in to a couple of feet and ultimately sinks that birdie putt there
02:04on the sudden death playoff hole to get his first green jacket.
02:08So, you know, it was clear with Rory, all that emotion coming through after that tournament,
02:14this one means just a little bit more than any other major.
02:17And for a guy who's been trying and trying to get back in the thick of it,
02:21he's had bad beat after tough beat after bad beat to finally figure out a way to get it done.
02:26I felt like this one was the golf gods up top looking down on Roy McIlroy to finally give him that salute
02:34and give him that, you know, that exclamation mark that he is one of the best in world golf
02:39and he will be the greatest that we've seen from Europe to ever get it done once he has said done.
